We had a curfew in college and all the coaches know we never followed that shite on Thursday night.
Thats what im saying. thursday nights at reggies were epic in college. Football players were always there. Even when we have an away game on saturday.

Dude... no one cares about the curfew.
Not true Tigerlee. You and other posters have said JJ is not a leader for breaking curfew, while Lee was prob in his dorm room studying playbooks.
I bet Lee breaks curfew a lot. You expect these kids to stay in wca after 10 30? I mean RS is shacking up with his gf, so that means he breaks curfew every single night he goes and sleeps with his girl.

If any of these players feel they can't abide by the rules set forth by the program they are free to leave. They are not being held against their will. There is not one player on this team that's above the rules or bigger than the program. The LSU football program and the high standards it sets for its' athletes is not for everybody. Some people don't have the maturity or the discipline for it. Those that don't should find another program. Perhaps Miami or Auburn.

If you are going to make rules then there should be consequences for breaking them. The question I have is what made these players decide to break the rule.Did they feel from past experiences that the coaching staff really didn't strictly enforce the rules where they would suffer consequences for breaking team rules. The worst thing you can have is inconsistency in enforcing rules. If Miles is going to have players follow the rules then he damn sure better enforce them or the discipline of the team will disintegrate before his eyes.Consistency is the key.Apparently the only consistent thing about discipline at LSU lately has been inconsistency. If you want to destroy a team or individual, just try inconsistency in enforcing rules and standards of behavior.
it was a bonding ritual/tradition that these kids break curfew.
ever had senior skip day at your high school??
this is akin to that.
it is minor.
what happened while they were at the bar wasn't.
what would be the difference btwn this happening on summer break when the kids aren't and school and now??
nothing.
they'd still be looking at possible charges...errrrrrr allegedly...

I agree that curfew probably gets broken often, and maybe it is a tradition that aids with team cohesion...but damn...use a little common sense.

everyone makes mistakes. If nobody got 2nd chances at things then only the Tebows of this world would make it in life. Sometimes the mistake is something that helps you be a better person in the long run. The fight was stupid but how many fights have any of us been in? It happens, They should be punished of course but 1st offense shouldnt be kicked off the team IMO. 2nd? yes.

Let's make 1 thing clear. There were players who did not break curfew. This childish business about everybody does it is crap. You make a personal choice to act as an individual. Personal responsibility. Regardless if you are a know it all athlete or fan the curfew was in place for a reason. If an athlete made a personal choice to follow it they look pretty good right now.

You talking about me or the players? Cus common sense is, if they are not in wca after 10 30, they broke curfew. regardless of where they went or what they did.
And Tigerlee says no one cares about curfew, while the JJ haters have bashed him for breaking curfew regardless if he was involved in the fight or not.

Ok 50 players broke curfew. More than half the team. But there are also players that people hold in high regard that break curfew.

Life is about RULES. We all live by them in some shape or form. They exist for a reason. If you can't live by rules in this world, then you pay the consequences. Sometimes it's the best way to learn for some people. Other folks may be disciplined enough to abide by them. Discipline=learning=success!!
The young men involved here will become better for this situation.
So will the LSU FOOTBALL PROGRAM/Coach Miles.

I agree, your not going to kick ur kid out the house the first time he breaks a curfew you set. People dont get kicked out of kirby smith the first time they get caught with a girl past curfew.

Yeah but we are talking about a 10 30 curfew that half the football team broke. So lets kicked them all off the team and forfeit the season. Cus we should all follow every rule down to the T.

Break camp
Students moved into dorms on Thurs
Big go out night for LSU students the week before classes, everyone coming back in town
Coaches give them curfew, wink wink
Go out unwind and relax a little bit before the season grind starts up
Stay out of trouble, don't do anything stupid.
Bertman did same thing with players when they reported for fall, go out have fun, DON'T DRINK ALL THE BEER IN BATON ROUGE IN ONE NIGHT

Seems like this is the equivalent of senior skip day in high school. Don't know how anybody could freak out about them breaking curfew.

I totally agree with you.We need to weed out individuals with behavior like former players Ryan Perrilloux and Cecil Collins.Players like that are not assets but liabilities in the long run.You don't reward bad behavior because you will only get more of the same.

Then don't give them curfew if you are not going to enforce it.Tell them no curfew, go have fun.Otherwise coaches are just being hypocrites.Say what you mean and mean what you say.

Was talking about the ones that got in the fight...
I played in college...we had some players break the drinking rules the coach set....one of which was our team captain. The ones involved missed two games....lesson learned. Team suffered missing some starters....
I know it happens, just frustrated as a fan and alum.

Patrick Peterson, russell shepard, Kelvin sheppard, mat flynn, stevan ridley, ciron black, Toliver. These guys have all broken curfew that i witnessed with my own eyes. So we should weed them out too. None of these guys shoul dhave ever stepped on the field at LSU.
Also by ur logic, JV should never have played in 03. What about in 07? you guys think we beat Tenn with a true freshmen Lee playing?
See what happens when you start adding players people actually like?
