Athleticism on offense and your defense doesn't matter. Very beatable squad, IMO.

If LSU plays to their potential, UW has no chance. They are not a very beatable squad.

Washington's advantage is the game's on the left coast, and a crazy start time.

UW keeps it close in the first half, then LSU owns the second half.

Return about two or three interceptions for touchdowns.

It's cliche to say force turnovers, but turnovers was the key weakness of the LSU offense in 2008.

Unless their offense is just rolling over us, I'd say the Huskies need something like a +3 turnover margin to beat us. I can't imagine Jefferson throwing the ball enough times to account for 3 TOs, so that means forcing fumbles—and our RBs have been pretty good about protecting the ball. What's more, I like how our secondary matches up with UW's receivers, and I believe UW's RB is a true freshman playing his first game (not sure, but I believe that's the case). Anyway, I think the the Tigers have a good chance of winning the TO battle this Saturday.

I'll second that. Spot on assessment in that first post of his.

And from a purely statistical standpoint, you're probably right. Fumbling is also less in the control of the defense. Maximizing interceptions usually means accepting risk in coverage (UW really has nothing to lose).

I used the term "opportunistic", and didn't really elaborate. Key turnovers are those that 1.) Are deep in opponent's territory setting up a short field, and a nearly automatic score, 2.) In the redzone, stopping a nearly automatic score, 3.) Early in an opponents drive, 4.) Directly score.

Turnovers in those categories are more valuable than a mid or late drive turnover in the middle of the field. UW needs to be opportunistic, and generate key turnovers.

Since one hypothetical question deserves another,
if USC loses their opener to San Jose State, should we start referring to the PAC One as the PAC Zero?

Just another honest question.

Watch Troy St. vs LSU 2008 and play better than Troy did in the 4th quarter.

Or the "PAC divided by zero" or the "PAC i"

We honestly don't know what the weaknesses will be.

This team has as much talent as any LSU team in history, but it is so young. The last couple of recruiting classes have been the best in our history, but many are not all ready to shine just yet.

Which ones start to shine this year and how many is the question.

The biggest quesition marks will be at QB and how much our defense as a whole has improved, both against the run and pass.

My quess the most likely weakness will be at QB, but I expect our starter to be steady.

The new starters on the offensive line especially at center is a concern--recognition of the defense between QB and center can be key.

You need 1 of these 3 to beat LSU

1. Matt Jones
2. Darren McFadden
3. Felix Jones

Washington doesn't have those players.

Since we're not playing the Raiders, Cowboys, or penal league, neither does anyone else on our schedule. According to your logic, we should be undefeated national champs.

blitz Jefferson on obvious passing downs. It is only his third start. His reads will still be a little slow.
Stack the box on running downs. Miles would be just fine running the ball 40 times if you are not stopping the run.
I don't think UW can man up and LSU and shut them down. You have to either sell out on the run or the pass.

Against LSUs defense, I would test the defensive line and mediocre linebackers. Run straight at the new defensive ends. Control the clock and hope to have a few sustained drives.

Hard to say. We have a new D coaching staff. Historically, Chavis coached teams seem to have trouble stopping running QB's and seem mediocre on 3rd down passing situations. Ya'll look good here, but if LSU's D plays to shut down your QB's running game, he's gonna have to complete passes to compete. LSU's secondary was green last year, but not this year. I think it's gonna be tough for ya'll to pass a lot unless we simply cannot stop your running game. I expect your D to struggle. We have a proven power running attack. ya'll are pretty much gonna have to shut that down and I don't think you can. LSU can also pass the ball with our reasonably accurate QB and a stable of very good receivers. Your best bet to win is a high scoring game where you get key turnovers and Lsu fails to execute in key situations. While that's possible, I think LSU's experience wins out at the end. You guys are rebuilding and looks like you're gonna play a lot of freshmen. That's tough because LSU's offense can give a D a lot of different options to defend. Crowton's got a huge playbook and our QB should be able to run most of it this year. Good luck in your season and I hope ya'll make a comeback (after this game, of course).

In order for this to work, you also need to use a wrinkle in the space-time continuum to enable you to play against last year's team and defensive coaching staff.

That's a funny word.

A: Forrest City.

Q: What league is that?

A: Arkansas penal.
