Believe me this NOT a flame. I am exited that he's here.
But what I just don't understand is, if he is the greatest recruiter of all time, and I'm not saying he's not, why would this man ever be unemployed. This has had me scratching my head for a while. Geaux coach O. Bring it home!

He seemed to want either a big-time job last year or nothing he was very upset that USC did not keep him as the head coach and I'm not sure if he was still getting paid or not for free

He has said that he has had other job offers but would only accept a job that he felt right about. Plus he was still getting paid by USC

Fair question

He was not given the HC job at USC after doing great as an intern HC after Kiffen fired.

I think he was offered to stay on with new HC staff, but he elected to go home.

He took the year off by choice!!!!

Trust me his phones rings early and often

The key here is that O really liked being home again...then he realized "If I can get on at LSU, I can be with my son, wife etc"

He was really, really disappointed that he didn't get the nod as HC after his stint as Interim HC for USC.

He thought that he'd have offers for HC jobs elsewhere too, so he sat out waiting for them.

I want to get paid millions to do nothing.

Charlie Weis needs to write a book.

If he is/was so intent on getting another HC position, how long can LSU expect to keep him? Or does the allure of staying home keep him at LSU for a while?

It will be interesting to see..

But I feel he was just very upset almost bitter how USC went down after he had so much success filling in at HC.

He just said on his presser this is where he always envisioned himself settling back down at (LSU) he and his family

He seems content to just represent Louisiana

No I think, that was exactly what happened. They offered to keep him on, I believe as DL coach or DC and he didn't take it. Many a USC fan will tell you that they wanted him to stay, Nebraska fans wanted him as well when Riley was doing the hiring.
