I agree. I would suggest listening to Bruce Feldman's podcast with David Shaw as well. Shaw goes into how it was developed. It's pretty awesome.

I bet at least 1 person here has this and has never played a single down of football.

It's relatively new, and pretty expensive. I seriously doubt anyone here has one of these systems for personal use. Especially given that the system needs to be populated by film from practice sessions and no one is going to be selling that.

As a 25 year veteran of the Simulation industry, while these games may be fun and a technology breakthrough, there is not a single piece of evidence of training transfer...not one! This means that the experience does not transfer useable real skills to the user. You can buy a VR game to fly a 747 but you cannot fly a plane when you have mastered the game.
This has been around for some time now as XO technologies developed the first one. It flopped big time!
Virtual reality has been eliminated as a training tool for some time now.

With the talk of the QB simulator becomming more and more common. LSU needs to get on the bandwagon and get their qbs running this asap.
Can we buy it, but make sure it's accompanied by the running back goggle set too? That way we can run the LSU offense... hand off, hand off, terrible pass, PUNT!

Or have them learn the entire offensive playbook. That would help also.

Nothing beats real time reps. And VR isn't going to make them throw a spiral. While I understand that we don't know the full impact of the training and how effective it can be, it is a significant advancement on one aspect of preparation that already goes on: film study.
Basically, the QBs get to watch film from the perspective of the QB on the tape instead of an all-22 or other such angles. It helps them better see things how they're going to see them in a game. While it may not make a difference for a guy like Peyton Manning who already knows how to translate traditional film angles to the field, it can certainly help guys who don't process that information quite as well.
Plus, they can do like 40 reps in the VR machine in like 15 minutes. So there is an efficiency there.

Would you rather they learn it on paper or in a more applicable manner?

We have one but it was stolen. Currently, Keith Zinger,Rohan Davey, and T.C. McCartney are trying to get it back.

If you can have it come with a 250 lb DE busting your arse when you screw up, I'll take it. Until then, it is just Spring game green jersey hollow success. We got all the can't get hit superstars we need at QB.
