Coming into this year, no reasonable LSU fan had us going to the CFP, much less winning it all. Too many questions on offense, new QB, new OL, lots of moving parts, RB by committee, losses on defense, suspensions, tough schedule, etc, etc....you name it.

Now we've got Burrow and I'm as happy as the next Tiger Fan that we are 5-0, but come on....Let's not set ourselves up and the team for disappointment. The way some fans are acting around here, you know the pitchforks are going to be out if we lose to Bama, or don't make the CFP, or don't win a Natty this year. All of a sudden, anything less than that and folks are going to lose their shite.

Pump the breaks people...given where this team started this year, it would be a HUGE accomplishment just to make a major bowl game and I for one would give the players and coaches big props if that happened.

Wait, so you’re saying fans shouldn’t want a national title?

I ask for the same thing every year. Win the West and Make it to the SEC Championship game. After that it is 3 one game series to win the National Championship. Winning the West gives us a chance and as a fan all we can hope for is a chance. Anything can happen in one game.

Want - Sure. Every fan "Wants" a national title. Just like I Want to do the dirty with Paige Spiranac.

EXPECT - especially given the state of things. No.

What's been the expectation at LSU every year for the last two decades?

stick with that.

11-1. Nothing less will be a success in my opinion.

At this point I'm expecting 8-4 or 9-3; both better than I expected. I guess that would be a success?

Before the season 10-3 with a bowl win seemed like the best likely scenario. After starting out 5-0, 11-2 with the only 2 losses to top 5 teams would be great, 10-3 with a bowl loss in a NY6 bowl would still be a successful season imo. Anything less would be a disappointment since it would mean we lose to someone other than Bama and Georgia in the regular season.

If you stopped making stupid threads I’d call that a success.

If we went 10-2 that would greatly exceed most people expectations.

usually starting 5-0 makes people reassess their expectations, but if you still want to consider 9-4 after beating some random Big 10 team in florida a rousing success after starting 5-0 thats you perogative.

That's not how it works though. For example, if LSU starts 10-0, losing the last two games of the regular season would be incredibly disappointing, right? The expectations change throughout the year, as they should.
