Pros and Cons of Daniels

I watched a few games from last year, Daniels clips of whole games good and bad. I don't know how much of the following was due to offensive scheme.
Pros - Dynamic runner
Improves running game with threat of keeping the ball
Soft handoff
Extends plays while continuing to look downfield
Reads open lanes well.
Nice deep ball when in the pocket.
Cons - One read and runs. Maybe by design.
Stares down receivers.
Inaccurate throwing on the run.
USC 2021
BYU 2021
He does make a few progressions during the BYU game. this gives me high hopes. he does tend to have happy feet while going through them.

Don’t see many cons
Has arguably the best arm in the SEC and is one of the fastest players
He’s special

Fair enough. A lot of it was because of terrible coaching and talent. Y’all know he didn’t even have a QB coach, right? He’s looked confident and accurate in the fall according to everyone who goes to practice.

If LSU is going 7-5 regardless, I say frick it and let’s play flag football while Howard is getting ready
ETA: Flag football as in some Manuel stuff

If he turns the ball over ..he’s not gonna last long

Happy feet and a weird release. There's a lot to fix but the truth is, we don't know if he's the starter yet.

Thanks for sharing the highlights. Denbrock wants him to be his Desmond Ridder.

We (and no one) knows how Daniels can/will perform in a Brian Kelly/Mike Denbrock offense.
Joe Burrow, a FAR less experienced QB when he transferred to LSU in 2018, was essentially a moderately better Danny Etling in 2018 in a Steve Ensminger offense:
Etling (2017): 13 games; 165/275 (60%); 2463 yards; 16 TDs/2 INTS
Burrow (2018): 13 games; 219/379 (58%); 2894 yards; 16 TDs/5 INTS
In 2019 a completely new offensive approach was implemented and Burrow went from an average college QB to the runaway Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall pick.
I'm NOT saying the same thing is going to happen with Daniels. But play-calling/offensive approach can have a MASSIVE impact on the success (or lack thereof) of a QB.
When Daniels entered the portal LSU had Brennan, Nussmeier and Howard on the roster. They didn't go get Daniels with the idea that he might make a great backup. While maybe not guaranteed the starting role, they clearly felt he brought something to the table that COULD make him a viable option as the starting QB.
