LT - Saahdiq Charles
LG - Garrett Brumfield(If he stays)
* Damien Lewis(If he goes)
C - Lloyd Cushenberry
RG - Ed Ingram
RT - Badara Traore

That's what I have.

my post from the other thread:

Between Traore/Charles/Ingram/Deculus we have solid guards and tackles, but no idea who replaces Clapp at center. Best case scenario is Brumfield stays and slides over to C.

Cushenberry is just a warm body and not on the level of the above 5. Not a reasonable replacement for a player the caliber of Clapp.

Add deculus to that somewhere and we have s decent OL from just looking. Thank God for the JUCO OL signings we made. Might not be experienced but could be better in the long run

I'm not sure what you mean by, not a reasonable replacement to Clapp. Is there any player out there that is the caliber for replacing Clapp? I think that is very unfair to Cushenberry. I think he will end up being a very good center.

So Coach O did do something right then and made good on his word.

Of course there are. There a plenty of excellent offensive lineman capable of playing center in the SEC. I don't believe his current back-up is one of them. (Neither do the scouts, who rated him as the 82nd overall OG in his class by the 247 composite)

People can't seem to understand the difference between realism and player bashing.

yep. What's funny is one of the worst plays I saw him make as an OG (Chattanooga game) seems to be the play that showed he had the athleticism to play tackle.

Best OL of ours (over a season) for the 2017 season. I think Lewis is next up there. Be interesting if Deculus and Traore (both have some development to do) are ready if they don't move Charles back inside. Doubt it, but not out of rhealm of possibility.

C - Lloyd Cushenberry
Disagree with above. Cush has come a long way. There was a huge push this offseason driven out of the lack of depth fear. I think he will pleasantly suprise. Not as good as Clapp by any means, but with another push this offseason may actually turn out to be more physically able (stronger) than Clapp.

RG - Ed Ingram
pretty much a given. When Charles kept making mistakes at OG and they rotated him in the whole OL looked better. He grades out well and can improve. His offseason includes staying out of trouble grades and otherwise.

quote:

RT - Badara Traore
maybe. Maybe not. I'm GUESSING this is a foot race with Deculus. He's got some technique work to do while Deculus has more work to do than he. Advantage Traore; I think Cregg is going to sink his teeth into him starting yesterday. Deculus has the upside to suprise though.

Don't be surprised to see Deculus fill in inside and out to get him experience but also because we'll need it at times. As long as he gets physically stronger, he'll be our ace in the hole, do-it-all type (at least while waiting on starting spot).

Nah they brought Traore in to start Day 1. 1 year rental most likely.

OL will start out weak, don't know how it will be by midseason. LSU has nothing to point to as a strength on offense at all, I mean absolutely nothing.

Thats not true at all. If Brumfield stays it will be as solid an OL as we've had recently.

T: Charles
G: Ingram
C: Brumfield
G: Deculus
T: Traore

That might actually be better than this year, considering Charles, Ingram, and Deculus should all be better than they were last year. Traore is a monster, and we know Brumfield is solid.

You're just throwing names at my face. Brumfield is the only strong point. The freshmen that did start played decent, nothing more. Guys that haven't started here could also never start here. No reason to even put their names on there. We've had highly rated guys beford, including JUCOs, who never stepped on the field for us at OL.

OL will look weak at the beginning of the year. Canada masked a lot of things making you feel too overconfident. Don't bank on highly rated guys coming in and not only starting, but playing well right off the bat.

I think both Ingram and Brumfield were better than decent as the season progressed, Charles was battling injuries down the stretch.

If Campbell remains on the team, I think he will be an option at Guard if they are looking at starting the best 5 and move Brumfield.

I like Traore's length at LT.

LT-Traore, Deculus
LG-Campbell, Lewis
C-Brumfield/Cushenberry
RG-Ingram, Cushenberry
RT-Charles, Magee

Cush got some snaps at guard in a game late in the year in place of Brumfield. I was kinda surprised.

I've never been that big on Brumfield. he was inconsistent at best. saw him get abused a few times. hopefully he's better next year, but I could see him getting passed up at guard.

I like that one a lot assuming Deculus improves and Traore plays like the #1 JUCO OT. Just to go a step further,3 deep with no repeat names:

LT-Traore, Deculus, Wire
LG-Campbell, Lewis
C-Brumfield, Cushenberry, Smith
RG-Ingram, Savage, Hines
RT-Charles, Magee, Rosenthal

I see Hines or Rosenthal moving to offense.

He has looked good in limited action. Plenty of good offensive linemen were not that highly touted coming out of high school and vice versa

I've seen Campbell mentioned a few times, and it was an omission on my part.

I've had high hopes for him. I've always thought the foundation [in all aspects] was there. So he could be a pleasant surprise too. Just haven't seen enough to know/judge/guess either way.

I do not see Lewis as being far off from having 'starter skills' at all. He seemed closer to that at OG than Traore at OT to me.

Hopefully it works out that way. JUCO's don't always pan out though.

I don't think it will happen, but Damian Lewis could end up being a better player than Traore.

At least we have plenty of bodies to choose from. I'll give the coaches credit for replenishing the depth on the O-Line. Hopefully the new guys work out like Charles & Ingram did for us in 2017. It would be nice if Deculus takes it to the next level in 2018.

Awe man, I was hoping that SE was going to have "The Clap" anchoring the offense next year.
