In a more permissive society like ours has become, people get desensitized to the cursing and come to think of the cursing as normal behavior. The alcohol abuse at the games loosen lips too.

fan police threads are the best!!

It's a good topic

I confessed last night (thread) I didn't really enjoy the game yesterday. Certainly I enjoyed winning...but the game, not so much...I thought we should have put Ole Miss away much sooner..

somebody said (wrote) that I was an embarrassment as a fan.

I don't get drunk, I don't curse, Don't smoke. I respect others and I raise my children up in Christ, yet, I am an embarrassment as an LSU fan because I am passionate about our Tigers and admit to not having so much fun in a tight game that should not be tight???. I expect LSU to play to well according to the talent we have to work with...when they don't, I get a little unhappy...but again, I don't go down the road of drunkenness and profanity like many do today.

I guess it's a matter of perspective.. some people care more about self control and public decency than others.

Cursing at a game(repeatedly) as loud as you can is simply a display of no self control or respect for others.

I blame American culture for this display of disrespect...and its only getting worse...

Why do you find "frick" offensive?

The occasional F bomb is no big deal, but when every other word is "F this, F that," it's low-rent.

To those who say it happens everywhere, it doesn't. I've been a season ticket holder to Ohio State games for years and I don't hear a constant barrage of profanity as the original poster stated. Sure, there's profanity at the games but it is limited. Then again, there's no alcohol sold inside the stadium. You want to drink, you do it before or after the game outside of the stadium. Some people sneak booze in but it's the exception, not the norm.

Not sure how you define everywhere, but not in my work place, not in my home, not at my kids school, not at my church, don't hear it when I go to the mall, never had a sales person use it when trying to make a sale,

Get the picture?

By the way, had this happen to me a couple of years ago at an LSU ballgame- I stepped across the aisle, explained to the young man how offensive it was and then requested he politely refrain- as I walked away I turned and told if he continued I would ask security to escort him out- With that I looked at a sheriff's deputy- waived to him- he nodded back Problem solved

if you are this offended by cursing, not direct at you, then maybe it's you with the issue/problem.

i can see it if someone is cursing at you, then that could be offensive. however, if a word, not directed at you, creates such anger ,within in you, to make you want to have someone kicked out of a game, then you may have an issue.

you went out of your way to place yourself in an adverse position without any instigation. sounds like you were looking for a problem.

thanks-

and incidentally the young college student I addressed was sitting next to his grandmother( who most likely paid for the tickets, supper and who knows what else) She thanked me- she said he does not listen to anyone- guess the guy with a gun impressed him

Ur just nieve, high schools and junior high schools are full of vulgarity and swearing, at least they were 5 years ago and im sure its only gotten worse

I can't tell you how wonderful it is to be lectured to, by someone who can't spell. (The word is naive). I just have three points for all of you who think that fans like the one who started this thread should stay home:

1. If all of the supporters of L.S.U. football (who are often offended by the garbage that passes for acceptable behavior in Tiger Stadium) did what you punks suggest and stayed home.......and if we did not support L.S.U. and the Tiger Athletic Fund ........the L.S.U. program would not have the money needed to stay competitive.

2. Your inability to understand how someone would be offended by constant use of "F" bombs....is simply a strong statement about how low our culture has sunk.

3. It's incredible that someone on this thread would justify poor behavior in Tiger Stadium by highlighting the poor behavior in high schools and that rationale speaks volumes for the pitiful state of our schools and the perverted mind-set of some of you.

I'm thinking it wasn't "a" word, but most likely hundreds, if not a constant barrage. No ifs, ands, or buts about it, it's low rent.

I don't agree with cursing out loud in front of little kids.

That being said, there sure is a whole bunch of self-righteousness coming out in this thread. And the ones that are the most self-righteous are the ones that are lying the most by the way.

maybe they are imperfect and their emotions get the best of them. never happened to you? you've never got frustrated and said something you rather not have? hmmm, glass house i bet.

Of course it's happened to me. I didn't say it hadn't. But, I don't go around cursing in public in front of women and children. It's called having self-control. That seems to be something looked down upon these days. I don't know why. It's actually pretty helpful.

Cursing doesn't make you more of a man. It actually shows that you are ignorant and that you can't control your emotions. It shows that you are less of a man, in my opinion. And yes, I've done it before. But, if I were ever to do it in front of women or children in public, I'd be ashamed of myself, not telling everyone else what a prude they were for objecting to it.

From the movie "Idiocracy"...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Narrator: Unaware of what year it was, Joe wandered the streets desperate for help. But the English language had deteriorated into a hybrid of hillbilly, valleygirl, inner-city slang and various grunts. Joe was able to understand them, but when he spoke in an ordinary voice he sounded pompous and faggy to them.

just saying...

That is the most illogical statement I have ever read on the Rant. Please without attacking me personally, try to explain your point 'cause I don't get it.
