I hear they are being posted with spring practice upcoming, and am surprised that Ridley is posted at #1 FB. I never thought that he would play FB, so I guess Maximus is correct that I don't know squat. Also with Ridley at FB, I expect CS to play some FB also and that Murphy will get a lot more totes this season. I also expect that all the freshman backs will be red-shirted.. assuming no injuries. Never thought Ridley would agree to be a blocking back.

Hester spent a number of seasons at FB before moving to TB for his Sr. year.

Ridley just needs to be patient, and good things will happen for him & the team. Being from SW MS myself, I'm pulling for the kid to do well.

Ridley is the only scholarship FB on the team left, despite the fact he never played FB last year. I'm sure it's just a spring thing because Dominique Allen isn't here.

Allen will start.

All Freshie RBs will be red-shirted. Takes time to learn the college game (forget about the thick play-book.)

Allen isn't a RB. He's a true FB and will start as a true freshman because we really don't have another FB.

And RB and ESPECIALLY FB are very easy transitions to college. FB might be the easiest position in football.

LSU's last true frosh FB ??? Allen will not be one if their ever was such a creature. FB's have a lot of assignment changes to different D fronts.. forget about blitzes!!!

You're talking to some who played FB. It's an easy position to learn and pickup quickly.

And I don't think you understand WE DO NOT have another FB on the roster outside of Allen except walk ons. There's a reason we went out and got a college ready FB in Allen and gave him a scholarship.

I agree with you that there are no other FB on the roster, but CS and KW will help out in that role. Remember, LSU ran sets without a FB at least half the time. Its not easy dude to play FB on Sat afternoon.

There isn't an easier position to learn really outside of punting or longsnapping IMO.

It really isn't that hard to pickup very quickly.

but CS and KW will help

They are both true RBs. CS only played FB last year to give a weird formation to defend against for the defense. Allen should handle FB duties easily next year. The dude is college ready. He's like 6 foot 250.

Didn't Tyler Edwards line up at FB last year in spring practice? Thought I read that somewhere...

They tried a couple guys at FB but just settled on Quinn Johnson being the sole guy and he dealt with it well last year. Allen will be the man this year. Ridley did not pan out as a FB like they thought. He's a very good RB.

Addai played some FB earlier in his career and got drafted in the first round... might've been the speed and the hands as well though haha

Tommy Banks started as a true freshman. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think Ridley will wind up back at TB, but if he stays at FB next year, I'd expect them to incorporate him into the offense more than most fullbacks. He could be another weapon. I'm not sure if he's really big enough to be a blocking type FB.

Even more than that, I don't think the depth chart at LSU has much meaning at all. Players are plugged in and out to meet needs and their placement on the chart is fluid depending on needs and performance. I can't believe any true Tiger fan that has followed Miles for 4 years at LSU is really placing much stock in the meaning of a depth chart.
