I'm for posting LSU's worst AD. My vote goes to Joe "Screen Music" Dean.

Well, it's "String Music", but I totally agree. He was horrible.

The thing that really pissed me off during that time frame is how the atletic department and board let it go on for that period of time.

Yep.

And now the non sequitur of the year award goes to...

quote:

Being at LSU during the late sixties and early seventies, I felt that we got what we deserved for our treatment of Charlie Mac. I used to be pissed when I saw LSU fans with signs that said Help Mac Pack. And when Tulane started beating us, their fans had signs that said Keep Mac Packed. Fans were pissed because he couldn't beat the Bear. Hell, in my sophomore year in '69 we beat the Bear. He was a good coach and if it wasn't for Archie Who in '69 we could have won it all. We got what we deserved and I couln't stand Jerry Stovall. I respected him as a player but there was no way in hell that he should of been a head coach.

What in the hell does any of that bullshite have to do with Joe Dean?

quote:

Hopefully, we never experience the Joe Dean years in LSU history ever again. Dean is nothing but a freaking drunk.

I hope we don't either, but there was one thing Joe Dean did right. He put the screws to those Tulane bastards like they deserved. He had them on the brink of death until Skip Bertman came along and revived them with an infusion of LSU charity.

"I'd like to thank Brett Favre for getting me a new job at LSU! Those people in Baton Rouge must be idiots, huh?"

This is what kills me about reviving the series. We give them legitimacy. They need us to survive, we need them like a hole in the head.

"If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."
That's the only thing that guy ever said that makes any sense. Kinda like "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results." (I forget who said that.)
