Possible answer to improving atmosphere in PMAC

We have a lousy atmosphere for basketball games in the PMAC. I was at the Georgia game yesterday and saw a notice for their Benchwarmers scheme in their game program:.
“In order to try to make sure our lower level is full and exciting for every game, we are using the Benchwarmer program by inviting fans in the upper level with Benchwarmer's wristbands to fill vacated seats at a designated time during the first half of each game. Lower level ticket holders, who encounter a Benchwarmer sitting in their seats, are encouraged to ask a nearby usher for assistance in claiming their seat and to assist the Benchwarmer in finding another empty seat or returning to their original seat location in the upper level.
Guidelines for the Benchwarmer Program
Secure a Benchwarmer wristband from the Fan Information table located in the Smith Street Lobby while supplies last
One wristband per ticket
Wristbands will be distributed starting when doors open 60 minutes prior to tip-off
Number of wristbands available will vary game-to-game
12 minutes remaining in the first half is when Benchwarmers can move from the upper level to the lower level by showing their wristband to ushers for access
Find an empty seat
Courtside seats are not available
UGA Student sections are not available
Enjoy the game and cheer on the Bulldogs!
Please do not switch seats during halftime”
Do you think this would work for us? It would get fans closer to the court, with more crowd noise and give the players the feeling of a big crowd.
We’ll probably get more fans in seats next season, but there will always be some corporate held season ticket spaces empty.

I'd say answer is winning.

Sounds cool but I bet a bunch of season ticket holders who are always late would completely bitch about it
Over the course of the first 5 to 7 home games I scouted out three seats that were never sat in. I went and siat in them with my kids at halftime of the first handful of games. Then I noticed that the season ticket holder never showed up at any games. We have sat in those seats before tip-off before every SEC game. It's been pretty sweet. We are literally one row off of the floor on the sidelines.

LSU fans bitching? No fricking way

LSU event management currently does not have the competence to execute this.

Awesome! More fans should do this

There's not much to execute, tbh.

I was at the Texas Tech vs. Kansas game yesterday and that atmosphere was goosebump crazy. Student section was loud and on there feet the whole game. Not to mention of the sale out crowd of 14,500 / 6,000 were students.

I don’t think he’s suggesting there is. It’s the complete incompetence @ LSU that he was referring to.

Just WIN.....baton rouge is not really a basketball town...im surprised the pelicans and the baby cakes make it in new orleans....

Winning is the answer.
I was a kid in the late 70s/early 80s when basketball was winning, and the place was packed and VERY loud.
You can't manufacture energy or interest in a team. Winning alone does that.

I like the Auburn "close to the court" thing. Wouldn't work for us though because students don't go to the games.

I do this anyway....
Pretty easy when PMAC is 1/2 full
CSB - We relocated at halftime of the A&M game to some seats about 10 rows behind LSU's bench. The whole row was empty the whole game. Sure as shite, here comes Joe Alleva walking up, and I say to myself, we can't be in his seats. He walked up and said, I think you're in the wrong seats, but just slide down a few seats. He was cool about it.

I do this every game already but wouldn't be a bad idea for those apprehensive about sitting in someone else's seat.

Do away with assigned seating. First come first serve. Sit wherever you want for the games. It would not be a problem.
