No, I don't. That's why I sit in the stands watching the game instead of standing on the sideline coaching it.

This happened with Pelini his first game and it worked out fine. I wouldn't be surprised if Miles freaked after that first big play on the blitz and subsequent TD and forced Chavis to do everything to avoid big plays.
BS...That has Chavis written all over it!

Sounds like something one might find in a graduate level physics or economics textbook, doesn't it?

If I don't agree with what YOUR opinion is on the game - I don't know much about football.

OK.

Like I said, when do you start coach? Chavis obviously sucks arse, we need someone who knows his stuff.

I didn't say he sucked arse, I said he needs to make changes quickly. We won't win more than half of our conference games unless he changes his 3rd down playcalling. I think he called a great 2nd half game...except for 3rd downs.

Then you'd better phone him right away, he probably isn't aware of the need to make adjustments after the season has started.

So when he ran an all out blitz on 3rd and 12 on the opening drive he was calling his patented 3rd and Chavis defense?

Look, we got burned on that blitz and a couple of more times later. This game was the perfect example of Les feeling the pressure. I think Les knew that given last years debacle of a season, this was a game he could not risk losing given the team and their season last year.

That being said, Les played/called the game not to lose rather than to win. When we played VaTech in 2007, we played to win. When we played UW this year it was not to lose.

Furthermore, he saw what happened with Lee last year and tried to minimize his risks by forcing the run game.

Now, is this exactly it for certain? Who knows, but I could see Les doing that given his record and the pressure on him this season, especially with Bama improving so much under Saban last season.

Count me in. People need to realize the game is changing with all these atlethic type QB's and the spread offenses. Yards will be given and points will be scored. You can't blitz and play man every play. All our loses last year (except Alabama) came from spread offenses. All of Bama's loses came from spread offense. Yards don't mean jack if you don't score. We scored more! Positives: no int for TD's, two defensive TO's (one pic 6), second WR threat, KW had good game, less penalties! Negatives: castropphe syndrome fans!

Chavis's defensive philosophy is to make a team drive 80 yards on you if they are going to score and to not give up a big play. For the most part, it worked.

Tennessee's defense over the years has been successful. True, I was hoping for a blowout but allowing for adjustments, I liked what I saw from the defensive scheme. Parallel to Pelini in 2005.

Those "third and Chavises" will be hard to get used to but I think this defense will be a good one that will not give up big plays.

I'm optimistic about this season and the result of the UW game doesn't have me freaking out.

I guess that makes me a Posi-Tiger.
