Glenn's long layoff, you have to be able to win both of the 1st two games, and Nola can only pitch one of them.

So you are going to just throw Glenn out there in the CWS after he hasn't pitched in 3 weeks?

And while being 2-0 is important, winning the first is MORE important. It is very hard to come out of the loser's bracket after you lose game 1. This isn't like the regional where you could mess around and start anyone you wanted vs. a SWAC team. You throw your best in the first game...no questions asked.

Only if Nola can pitch game 2 and pitch game 1 of the Championship.

You are willing to bet money Eades starts one of the 1st 2 games?

Got to throw Nola first. The way the tournament is spread out now, Nola could be needed to pitch twice before the championship series. He's not as likely to do that if he throws Game 2.
And this makes the most sense.

The earlier Nola is available, the better.

Saving Nola for UNC and Eades/Glenn first for UCLA could make sense, but you want to win #1 and you want Nola available earlier.

This is true. The CWS is basically two separate 4 team Regionals. If you lose either game 1 or game 2, you have to win the same amount of games to come out of the losers bracket.

But I still say Nola gets game 1.

LSU's bracket looks to set up this way:

June 15: Game 1
June 17: Game 2 (win or lose game 1)
June 19: Game 3 (ONLY TEAMS that lost game 1 or 2)
June 21: Game 4 (2-0 this is 3rd game, Game 3 winner this is 4th game)
June 22: Game 5 (Only if necessary. Game 3 winner must win June 21 game)

June 24: Championship best of 3.

I know this is a normal 4 team double elim playoff, but look at the separation dates.

ETA: LSU's bracket is the early bracket start (June 15). The opposite side starts June 16. Both brackets will still end on June 22nd at the latest regardless.
