I love LSU baseball and i do think this team has improved but when you get into tournaments, pitching depth is a must. The SEC tournament 4-5 games in 5 days. NCAA regionals, if you lose 1 game you play 5 games in 4 days. Lastly, World Series you will play 6-8 games over 12 days. In other words IF we make it into any of these tournaments we could not lose 1 game if we expect to have a chance

We'll be fine at the SEC Tournament. Paul has some secret magic or something with end of the bench pitchers at that tournament. Rarely used relievers end up starting a game at Hoover and pitch the game of their life.

I agree with the SEC tournament. That's a grind that typically requires deep pitching and/or for some arms to emerge out of nowhere.

Regionals and supers are not quite the same. You can run through a regional and super regional with a handful of good arms. Yes, it becomes a grind if you lose a game but 2 good arms could get you to 2-0 quick. This is why I'd really like to see us sneak into a regional - Marceaux and Labas can hurt some feelings.

The CWS can be a grind, too.

That has happened all of once in Paul Mainieri's 11 trips to the SEC Tournament. He is 38-10 with 6 titles in 11 trips.

Why? Because he isn't hitching his wagon to hopes of the past? And praying we go on a magical run?

Looking at the competition and how our bullpen has performed all year, I think it's a pretty fair assessment to think we'll struggle in Hoover.

And no, I'm not new to LSU baseball.

And how many times has he started 1-8 in conference play? Or been 8-14 in the league, 80% of the way through the season?

This is the shakiest staff, after Marceaux and Labas, that I've seen in quite some time...maybe ever. Maybe some trusty arms will emerge.

We did win it in 2010 as the lowest seed ever to win it as an 8 seed. We came into the tournament with a 14-16 SEC record.
