looks to me like he might be working on elevating his release point thus lowering the number of batted balls at the LOS... which is a good thing if you ask me..

chill out chicken little

Sorry, but that's one of the most godawful photos of a QB throwing ever to grace a starting lineup.

I don't really know how so many people can evaluate a player's throwing motion from a single still photo. If we were looking at several continuous frames of his throws, then yeah let's examine it closely. But at some time during a throw the arm is going to extend and some weird angle will appear in a series of photos.

Do you think that Montana photo looks similar to JJs?

Seriously folks. This IS NCAA football. I mean shite, if you can't see small stuff in a picture, you're going to think pretty much EVERY photo of a QB throwing looks the same.

It aint like the difference between good and bad at the D1 level is going to basically look like Montana in one photo and a six year old girl in the other.

If it were that simple, scouts wouldn't even exist. They'd just ask my wife who the good QBs were.

yeah, Phillip Rivers and Dan Marino had the same things said about their throwing motion. Good thing San Diego and Miami didnt consult TigerDroppings.com to ask their opinion on whether or not they were good enough to draft..

I wonder, with THAT throwing motion, how the heck did this guy complete 61% of his passes as a true sophomore against SEC defenses??

Shorty, you apparently don't know anybody that is an NCAA or NFL scout.

No, I'm ok with a 62% completion rate.

Get a life.

Well looks like ShortyRob stopped responding or took off because he was destroyed in this thread....

I don't like JJ either, but you'll hate Rivers when he gets to campus

Here. I'll make another standard message board prediction.

I'm about to sign off and head for bed. When I do. One can reliably expect that someone in this thread will post some variation of.....

"Look ShortyRob took off once he knew he'd been destroyed in this thread....."

Message boards are fun.

Shorty, you convinced me. Given your great reputation as a quarterback coach, add in in your long list of successful pupils, and topped by that damming photo, I have come to only one conclusion.
Jeferson should immediately be dismissed from the team, taken out to the levee and shot. Better that LSU leave the QB position vacant than to have one whose throwing style offends you.
Thanks so much for opening my eyes.

To the original poster:

Have you ever seen Phillip Rivers throwing motion?

How did that work out for him?

Some people just need to learn when to STFU.

Someone else may have posted this b/c I did not read through all 57 replies, but could it be that he was tossing a short pass over the D-Line? Got the arm up, got the ball up and completed it for a first down.

As awkward as it looks, thats pretty much what your arm should be doing on slants and short crossing routes.

where did you come up with this, other than ranters in the other thread. Slants and crossing routes require a ball to be delivered quickly, and long motion like this isn't going to work near as well. Probably the reason Crowton limited the quick and crossing routes last year. Lee has a much better motion for these types of routes (he just can't read the defenders when throwing it in a game).
