HAHAHAH We ended the game on 3rd down with 39 YARDS TO GO from the 22 yard line with 0 timeouts. That is so typical of the Miles/Jefferson/Crowton era

Actually that board is wrong. last play of the game was a 3rd and 21 at LSU 40 because of bogus personal foul call on Hitt. Then JJ threw a pass to Randle for 25 yards but he fumbled with 0 secs on the clock.

it also took place during every timeout. pepole running on to the field putting turf back where it was supposed to go, then patting it down. needless to say, it didn't work very well

very similar to what the Corps of Engineers have been doing since the 1900's.

it was evident even on TV the field was in dreadful condition

...the week before when Miami played on it. And that was before they tried to resod it. Then they blamed the weather for not being 75 and sunny. Dumbasses.

And PENN STATE had to play on it too. AND they were able to drive down the field in the last few mins of the game to win it. I am TIRED of excuses.

The Rose Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl completely re-sodded their fields after the regular season and had them in great shape for the Bowl games in just a few short weeks. Blame the cow pasture field in Orlando on the negligence/incompetency on the turf manager and crew. The idiots tried re-sodding with small squares of turf (Takes longer to root and establish) instead of long rolls of turf, which is what they used in Pasadena and Tempe..........

Lighten up, Francis.

The field was in terrible condition and a major bowl game should never have that kinda field no matter the teams playing.

That all most people are saying.

And that the field is indicative of the entire bowl. Which is why no one wants to go back.

I agree with this. However there are SOOOOOOOOO Many LSU fans that think THAT cost us the game. Sure a dry field would have ben better. BUT like I have said I am tired of excuses. I was very PISSED as a FOOTBALL fan that looks forward to the New Years Day Bowl games and had to see that.

I was at the game. I felt like I had been robbed! I dropped a bunch of money on Orlando going to that shite hole! Orlando robbed both LSU and PSU fans. The PSU fans weren't to happy about the field either. I talked to several after the game. They were happy to win but thought the place was a dump! One PSU guy ever told me that the game was a joke on that field. He felt that he had been robbed of a quality game.

It is still a really bad facility but it is the best it is going to ever be in Orlando since nobody plays there any more.

FAIL. A bill passed in Sept 2006 that $1.1 Billion of our tourist taxes will be used to build a new arena for the Orlando Magic (Phase 1 - completed), a new Performing Arts Center downtown (Phase 2 - land cleared, bidding process underway), and a $175 Million renovation to the Citrus Bowl (Phase 3 - $10 million already in play for upgrades and new turf).

The field was in terrible condition, but unlike the other bowls that refurbished their turf in the month before the games, Orlando only had a few days. The Champs Sports Bowl and high school championships were played after and during torrential rainstorms. The rain stopped on the 30th, but started back in the middle of the night on NYE and didn't let up until halfway through the 1st qtr (then the temp dropped 25 degrees in 10 minutes - brrrrr). Orlando typically averages about 2 inches of rain in December. We got 6 inches that week. You can't control mother nature, and Orlando recognized immediately the need to put artificial turf in the Citrus Bowl so this will never be an issue again.

It is unfortunate the attitudes expressed on here that you will not come to Orlando and support our Tigers if the Cap 1 selects us. I would go to Boise, Idaho if LSU was playing in that shitty bowl. I have lived in Orlando since 1997, and our alumni group here is strong. This is a great city to visit with your family, with more to do than my entire home state of Louisiana, but the lack of support because of a weather anomaly is sickening. I love my Tigers. Bottom line.

What really made me mad was when they interviewed the head of the Capital One Bowl and he was saying how he was pleased with the field. I really wanted the person doing the interview to just punch him right in his face with his microphone. It was very embarrassing for both teams that they had to play a game on that field. When I played pop warner football, we played in random fields that were not even built to hold football games and those random fields were in better condition than that field. It wasn't fair for either team and for that bowl game to be considered one of the best non-BCS bowl games to play on that field was truly a joke. It made it even worse that we didn't win.

Then they should have obeyed Murphy's Law and not had High School Championships and Champs Sports Bowls on that field. Now they have Astroturf that causes more injuries. Sounds like there are some greedy bastards running the municipal or state government there.
