How was that worse? Seriously. Brown didn't make McCoy hold the ball 4 seconds too long before throwing it away. Miles HAD 3 DOWNS AND 2 TIMEOUTS to gain 0 yards and kick a field goal and he fricked that up. I'm sorry Mack Brown is stupid and that was one of the worst plays i've ever seen but Miles lack of mental ability in the Ole Miss game was way way worse.

I always thought Brown was the Crème de la Crème of idiot coaches until Miles. But honestly they are probably on about an even keel.
I've always thought the same thing. I grew up a Texas fan and I now am a Tiger fan mostly but still love the Longhorns also. I don't think either coach is a great coach. They are good recruiters and I think that the players and luck have been on their side a whole lot.
On the clock management thing, I think that this should be compared to Miles and Flynn's time management issues in 2007 against Auburn not the Ole Miss game. If that ball would have been tipped into the air and not completed, game over and no National Championship for LSU.

answer...zero.
how many functioning brain cells do you have left?
answer...let's see, you had a thought supplied to you by a media hack...you typed a post...you hit submit correctly...you dropped your bong (-10 pts there dude)...I'd have to say somewhere between 50-100. good luck with that.

This is just not accurate. The clock started when the ball was set for play. Hell, we were so confused we didn't even get the snap off. If you watch the replay, we took so long to get the ball snapped the clock expires before JJ spikes it. SAD, SAD, SAD
Cause you can't do it with one second...but with 2 or 3 you can...and I still think we'd have done it.

Yes, but there was really nothing to review in our game. The confusion in our game was limited only to our coaches and players.
In the Texas game, it was clear that the clock ran longer than necessary. This was rightly corrected under review.
I don't get where you are going with this. What part of our game needed to be reviewed?
Too much time ran off after Tolliver's catch. Should have been 2 to 3 seconds left. A respectable crew would have reviewed it and set it properly. Just like the Big 12 crew. Heck Nebraska was celebrating and leaving the field. The Ref's stopped the whole thing....reviewed it by super-imposing the clock over the play...determined that when the ball hit an object out of bounds there was one second left...reset the clock...cleared the field and allowed the Longhorns to easily win the game. Our crew beat a path for the ref's locker room, took their paychecks and called it a day.

Les Miles never lost a game with a national championship on the line

OK, I see what you are saying. I must admit I haven't heard too many people complaining about the clock operation in this game. I was at the game, so I didn't have the benefit of replay. I'll have to take your word that the refs were late calling for the clock to stop.
Either way you stack it, the sad thing is that Les had no contingency plan if the ball fell short of the end zone. For what he is paid, one would think this was not asking for too much.
AND, we should never have been in that position, because he inexplicably let 17 seconds run off before finally deciding to call timeout.
AND, this is not an isolated incident, rather only the first time it cost him a loss. Recall the Georgia game when, for no reason, he let the clock run down to end the half. Recall the Auburn game in '07, which I think most closely compares to the Texas game Saturday night. I know there are more, but these are at the top of mind right now.
The thing about the Auburn game is that everyone was so excited that we won, Les got a pass on what was very clearly some really stupid clock mismanagement. I can't believe it took this long for his colossal clock f'ups to catch up to him.
There is no way that I guy in his position, shouldn't be able to do better than this. Every one at that Ole Miss game, and I mean everyone, knew he had screwed up big time. Everyone from the hardcore football guys, to the girls who were there to make the scene, EVERYONE. When the casual fans know better than the Head Coach, what does that tell you? There is just no good excuse for being this dumb.
