Lat week, SEC announcer Rogers inferred that Burrow's high passing percentage was a result of 5 yard & less patty-cake passes. Nothing could be further from the truth, as the passing chart clearly shows.
Passing Chart Shows Burrow & his WRs* at 84.8% on Passes 11 to 20 Yards. These stats show distance that the ball is in the air - from the line of scrimmage - yards after catch NOT included
83.3 - Behind LOS (10 of 12)
90.3 at 0 to 10 yards (28 of 31)
84.8 at 11 to 20 yards (28 of 33)
66.6% at 20+ yards (6 of 9)
*TE and RB receptions included
LINK
Note - you have to go to "Passer Matrix" - Click on passer, then "Burrow" - and then click on "Games". and select the first three games
And there are some minor errors (5 pass attempts are missing by my count - all 75 completions are charted**), but still damn good info from SEC Stat Cat.
**and the 5 "missing" attempts might be throw-aways

That is utterly unthinkable. The efficiency in which they've been slinging it this year is truly remarkable. Doesn't matter who the opponent is - that is extremely hard to do, even just being on that same page as your WRs constantly is really something else.

I remember his saying after week 1 he wasnt blown away because there were short passes. But that changed for him after week 2

84.8 at 11 to 20 yards and 66.6% at 20+ yards are crazy good numbers. This offense has put in the hard work with great coaching. It is now paying off.

1. I love passing charts. If you want to see how the NFL passing game has evolved go look at Tom Brady and Drew BRees' passing chart and youll see they throw like 3 shots down field a game, and 8-% wihtin 5 yards.
2. Love that youre going to a "fan site for stats"
3. Joe Burrow has been throwing darts all season. His arm looks great. THey mentioned he worked with a throwing coach in the offseason that used to be an MLB pitcher that emphasized throwing with his legs to generate more power and releave stress on his shoulder.

If I were not working I would show the pictures compared to Tua. It's amazing how Joe is pushing the ball downfield and the majority of Tua's are within 10 yards and his percentage falls significantly when over 10 yards. This is an amazing find. If you are looking you have to hit the next button to show each side of the field (left, middle, right). Alabama is running a very quick strike short passing and depending on their receivers to pick up YAC.
Very interesting. Hopefully someone will be able to post the pictures. I can do it later today but I've got appointments all morning.

Good find.
According to that page, only 11% of Burrow's attempts are from RPOs.
ETA - Also interested that the site shows his "accuracy percentage" as 64% in 2018 and 80% in 2019. Through the first 9 games of 2018, his accuracy percentage was 60%. The last 3 games (I can't find the bowl game), his accuracy was 77%. That's about inline with what I saw with my own eyes. Burrow's accuracy has improved dramatically - kudos to the young man for his hard work.

Hell, completing passes for those percentages with NO defenders would be remarkable!

Please utilize the TE more. Or is he saving it for you-know-who.

This, and you can see how much better his footwork and balance is in the pocket.
You won't find too many guys that work harder on improving their game than Joe.

He's throwing catchable.... and I can't stress this enough, FOOTBALLS!
With our receivers, that's all you gotta do.

If he keeps this up, Burrow is playing himself into becoming the top QB picked in the draft next spring. Even scouts are starting to say that he is climbing very fast and could soon overtake Justin Herbert with only Tua being a bit further ahead on most draft boards for now. If Burrow's pace continues anywhere near this, and if he beats Bama, he likely becomes the top QB on most NFL boards. This is absolutely insane as he was starting off the year as a mid-to-late round projection at best. Dude is balling the frick out.

Craziest stat to me is he has attempted more passes 10+ yards down field than 0-10 yards.

We are very lucky to have Joe Cool... and Joe Brady also. This is gonna be fun

Joe passing charts.
Tua charts below, the last one is the left of the field.

We must also pay tribute to the WRs who EACH got 10,000 Jugs reps this Summer (mostly on their own schedule - VERY disciplined).
The WR room went from almost the worst drop rate in the nation, to very likely the best (or very close).
Joe also said that he worked very hard on his footwork over the Summer. He said that it was excellent in high school, but that in 3 years on the bench at OSU, it got rusty.
These downfield numbers are nuts! Love it. And these WRs are outstanding!

Thanks for posting the pics!
Interesting that:
Tua is 10 of 24 (41.6%) of all passes over 10 yards.
Burrow is 34 of 43 (80.9%) of all passes over 10 yards.

Yeah, just think a couple years ago the crowd went insane when the offense shifted.
