Sorry for my ignorance, but what is the contrasting differences between the two? I have seen stats for olineman and was wondering. I can assume that pancake is better?

Pancakes generally are knocking the guy down and then falling on him till the whistle blows , personally i think they're just about the same thing .

Pancake is planting a guy on his back as if you ran through him.

Knockdown is planting a guy on the ground except on his back

At least that's how I think it is

Being a former O lineman myself I can say I always favored the pancakes better just something about that maple syrup. Getting knocked down or blocked sucks. So your assumption was right on you NC fans are pretty smart!!

The biggest difference with a pancake and a knockdown is:

1. Pancake ... and you're done ... you got one
2. Knockdown ... and you can get another

Best play I ever saw ... Alan Faneca knocked one down (on his arse) ... Knocked another down ... and blocked/stopped a third guy (almost put him on his arse too) ... and a lumbering rhino took it to the house for LSU
