I have a friend who was at the UGA spring game a few years and said Mett looked like a superstar and thought he would get the job over Murray till he got kicked off. So.....where does that put us?

Sounds like solid info. Thanks for sharing.

It's like there's been no development for 3 years.
And how is that different from almost every QB wearing LSU's unis the last several year?

Alan Risher, former Tiger QB & QB coach said, unequivocably, that his problem is that he stares down the WR's, giving the taller DE's time to raise their arms & knock down his passes. He suggested that you look at the good QB's in the NFL & in college football & they all have "swivel heads", never locking onto their target till the last minute then swiveling their head/eyes towards him, making the DE's guess. He said he saw this time & time again, against both USCe & the aggies. Commented that it is not "easy fix". FWIW.

This has real cred in my world. But why can't Mr. Mett (and JJ and JL) learn to do their QB thing a la Risher? It would seem that this way of doing things should be burned into Mett's soul by now. I mean he's not a raw recruit or freshman; he's played the JUCO circut and distinguished himself there (I know it isn't SEC level, but...).

He stares down the receivers and he totally over strides when he throws.

The over stride problem is a big issue - it makes a 6' 5 " guy like Mett like a 5'9" or shorter guy.

I hope that coaches have worked with him on his footwork. I still believe he does much better out of shotgun.

You forget his year with UGa. The guy has had plenty of time to develop. Until proven otherwise, he is just not very good.

He doesn't get that many passes batted down. He got a lot batted down against SC because Clowney is 8 feet tall.. so that skewed the perception of how many passes get batted down.

LSU's d line bats down a ton of passes. shite happens. It's not just Mett.
