One thing about yesterday's game: I think I saw a total of maybe 5 or 6 missed tackles the ENTIRE game. Both sides could bring it and make it stick; we've gotta get back to that too.

That is one of the problems that LSU face. I have been saying for almost 2 years that the talent everyone talks about at LSU is a facade.

well then you've been wrong for almost 2 years. UF definitely has superior talent, but LSU is better than nearly everyone else in CFB from a talent standpoint. as a former player, you are the former UF player if i remember correctly, you should understand the impact coaching can have.

A year ago LSU had the better coach

never catch me saying that...not that I think Urban is a great coach, but I have always been concerned about Miles

quote:

The talent is not the same sorry brohhh

wrong...evaluate the last 5 recruiting classes ..not as big difference

quote:

QB: In your words one of the greatest college QB's of all time. Also Brantley and Cameron Newton as backups. LSU Jordan Jefferson and Pick 6 Lee. Oh yeah let's not forget CAN'T Throw 20 yards Hatch. Advantage: Florida

obviously agreement

quote:

RB: Florida has Demps, Rainey, and Moody. LSU has Scott, Williams, and Murphy. Advantage: For arguements sake we will say a tie.

fair to say that.. but Scott and Keiland will be better pro backs ...FL's speed backs are gimmick backs

quote:

WR: Florida has one of the most dangerous receivers in the country, Percy Harvin, and Louis Murphy, Deontae Thompson. LSU has Lafell, Byrd, and Tolliver. ADvantage: Florida. I dont think anyone here would disagree with this. We don't drop passes period!!!!

dropped passes have to do with the rhythm of the offense IMO... FL's offense gets rolling and that positive momentum feeds on itself... with Lee, the WRs wondered if they'd ever get the ball in their area again

we don't have a Harvin, but if I rated FL's and LSU's WRs together, it would be hard for me to put another Florida WR above Byrd, Lafell and Toliver in the talent category... that's being honest

quote:

OL: Florida has Trautwein, Pouncey twins, Tartt, and Watkins. LSU has Black, Helms, Johnson, Hitt, and Barksdale. Florida's OL is leading the league in rushing and the fewest amount of sacks. LSU OL well is LSU OL. Advantage: Florida

wrong... we underachieved this year, but LSU has more talent and depth here

quote:

DL: Are we going by hype or the numbers here. If we are going by the hype then LSU has the greatest DL since the STeel Curtain defense. If we are going by the numbers, Florida has more sacks than and pressures then LSU. But I know how LSU fans are you are more interested in the hype. Advantage: LSU

we have underachieved, but you're right

quote:

LB: I shouldn't even have to do this position but I will. I am sure you will counter that Beckwith and Riley are Butkus finalist. But your eyes will not let you down on this one. LSU doesn't have a Brandon Spikes nor can any of the LB's really run. They are great physical specimens but LB's they aren't. But for arguements sake, I will give the nod to LSU.

huge advantage Florida

quote:

CB: Wow!! This shouldn't be debatable. Florida has Haden, Jenkins, WRight, and Black. LSU has Peterson,Hawkins, Jones and Taylor. Now I will let you guys on a little hint. One group has over 20 interceptions and one group isnt't remotely close. ONe group is the strength of a Top 5 scoring defense and one is well just a defense. ADvantage: Florida

Florida, but ONLY because of experience... remember how poor the Gators secondary was a year ago...ouch.

quote:

ST: Florida has returning kicks one of the most dangerous returners by statistics in the country. LSU has one of the most dangerous kick returners in the country by hype.(Note: you cant really count him as a punt returner because he can't catch the punt) Florida has Phillips as placekicker who has missed only one field goad all year. LSU has David, a great place kicker in his own right. Florida has Henry as a punter who is known for hitting 65 yard punts left and right. LSU has Dalphrey. Enough said. Advantage: Florida

James is the best returner in the game, but with Colt David and our coverage unit I woud not give FLorida a big advantage... maybe slight but that is even arguable

there is your explanation and it is more than fair

Spot on. Like the sack at the end of the game, this year, JPW would have gotten out of that against LSU. Florida made sure he was on the ground.

Sure tackling, catching passes, little things make a big difference.

We will NEVER EVER EVER have MORE talent than FLORIDA. It just isnt gonna happen

hmmm... NEVER EVER EVER? see: 2006, we shoulda gone undefeated that season. I was at that Florida game in Gainesville. Florida wasnt the better more talented team, they just shot themselves in the foot less than us. We were DEFINITELY the more talented team that year

by the way, i seem to recall them winning a National Championship with that team. But EVERYONE (EVEN ESPN) argued that we were the most talented team in the nation

I mentioned coaching which is key but I forgot to mention leaders on both sides of the ball. I can't think of one this year. can anyone else?

I think the point most LSU fans would argue is don't confuse productivity on game day with raw talent. The two are not necessarily synonymous.

UF has a 51-21 advantage on game day. But in terms of raw talent, there's not a lot of difference. Although imperfect, if one can invest some degree of legitimacy in recruiting rankings and NFL draft picks, LSU is very comparable to UF.

All this begs the question as to why such a disparity on game day and I think Tiger fans would answer in two (now exceedingly sore) points: 1) QB play (Tebow is not only the best QB, IMO he's the best player in college football in our lifetimes. And we have . . . er, a problem. 2) DC (Strong may not be the best but he's a full magnitude ahead of Bradley Doug Malleveto).
