If not a big fan of Crowton's play calling. But if you cant run the rock you cant go all the way. Our O-line was like wet toilet paper.

New OC---will not help next year without a talented OL
New HC---will not help next year without a talented OL

The main difference between Miles and Saban is thier ability to scout and develope lineman.

Dont give me that scheme crap either. I watched Hitt and T-boby go backwards try ing to run block all year.
This is the main problem with most programs. Finding and developing great lineman.

That and we run a gimmick offense. Alabama runs what we used to run with Jimbo.

Difference is Saban knows who his best are and puts them out their. Miles sticks with upperclassman no matter what.

The game is won the trenches.

I wish people would think before ranting about Crowton. What about Coach Stud? Our OL was horrendous.

With the guys on this board, it really is as close to an obsession as I've ever seen. If Saban ever gets kidnapped, the feds are gonna subpoena TD's IP addresses and we're all going to be having a sitdown.

Jesus is never going to forgive Saban for what he did to the LSU fanbase.

Choctaw sees anything in favor of Saban being an automatic indictment of Miles. Even objective evidence right before his eyes.

If you watched the line blocking technics used by Bama it was aimed at creating lanes, It was unconventional at times, do what it takes to create the lane. I do not see the same type of technic used by our line. It boils down to one thing coaching

Weaver, please compare the classes of Saban's starting OL against Miles' OL.

So did everyone in Tiger stadium. You never saw Blackwell,Hurst or Lonergan go backwards while they were in the game.LSU has to quit playing favorites and teach technique and fundamentals. No one can say that this OL was sound in technique or fundamentals. Former players say that Stud the "DUD" doesn't stress technique or fundamentals. They need to tell him to haul arse but the problem is it would take the fat arse 3 years to haul his big arse off.

I am not convinced this is a talent issue. I think this is a coaching issue. LSU's lines, O and D have been bad all year. The most obvious explanation, they aren't practicing hard enough. That is, they aren't pushing each other hard in every practice.

Crowton's and Fish both ran screwy offenses. Would be nice to see LSU get a real O - coordinator.

Ok, I 'm just going to take a stab at this festering issue:
(It's an guess I really cannot substantiate, but here goes:)
1. Les Miles is not nearly as good a football coach as Nick Saban;
2. Whatever else follows, see number 1, above.

I generally agree with the sentiment that there is too much psychological drama on this board regarding Nick Saban.

HOWEVER...

Given the events of last night, there is now an additional reason to indulge in comparison of the two coaches. The new national and conference champion is in our division, and is the standard we must measure ourselves against for the time being.

Watching last nights game, along with some other bowl games, what stood out is that the very good teams are very sound in the basic fundamentals of football. No meerkatting every play, not constant change at the line. Fundamentals. They are sorely lacking with LSU now and this is something that is not being coached. Schemes are a bigger concern and trying to make the schemes work, even if the players are not developing, is the focus now. Return to the fundamentals and LSU will be in contention for the SEC and NC. Don't, and it's mediocrity every year.
