Something has definitely clicked for Beckwith, because he wasn't very good when he was in against MSU and Auburn.

Maybe just getting the starting job gave him the confidence he needed.

maybe so but the defense has really improved thanks to chavis. I didn't ecxpect this amount of improvement this fast.

Now we had best get a passing game quick because Saban will be stacking the box UNLIKE freeze most the game. 4 turnovers and we still won. wow. I thought Ole Miss would try the FG at the end. From my vantage point in the WU it looked like freeze only had 7 in the box most the night.

He had plenty to help stop the run. It is the way Ole Miss runs its 4-2-5. Speed is critical.

Our o-line and running backs did really well. Coaches did fine also but running at the line and avoid relying on the option and end around plays. You run at this defense, negate speed with size and let your RBs do their thing.

the welteristas clung to the fact that beckwith didn't play well against AU as their defense for his continued play

I didn't think starting Beckwith would make that much of a difference, but it has. He's a playmaker and a beast. Some guys just have that knack. Hard to understand why it took so long to get him on the field.

Now we need to teach DBs to catch.

Only thing beck could look at doing before next season is getting down to the 230-240 range. Would help with the sideline to sideline speed. One way or another this D will be salty next year

I agree with this, but I would bet every fan base can say the same about their coaches. We sit back and critique certain decisions, even call for the coach to be fired, then watch that same team and same inept coach beat the #3 team in the country.

Players grow and evolve, sometimes it takes time to see that manifest itself on the field. Beckwith made plenty mistakes, and now seems to be coming into his own. this is a very young team, they can be great in the not too distant future
