Really - no need for a prick as head coach even if he has won 2 of the last 3 BCSNC, is the only coach to win a NC at 2 different schools and has the #1 recruiting class 3 of the last 4 years.

We need a nice guy. How about Mr Rogers and his neighborhood?

Mike Tomlin is the only coach that I would consider over Miles to lead us through 2020.

Maybe because Saban is the ultimate D-head in all of college football, with Petrino a close second. I'm fine with Miles.

Meh, why would you want him?

I love what he did for LSU and respect his coaching successes, but still do not respect him as person - nor do I respect any megalomaniacs in that regard.

I'm pretty sure every Bama fan on earth idolizes Nick Saban. It would be no different if he were at LSU.

No doubt, I loved him at LSU and can't deny supporting the ones who win the most.

The point being: football is a tough game and requires a hard edge, I understand that. This guy is just plain insufferable from the vast majority of personal accounts. He comes across as a miserable person who makes those around him miserable most of the time - his mom probably didn't hold him enough as a baby.

We have all worked with this type of person and, thus, it is generally refreshing to see genuine "good guys" succeed.

Hmmm

Not sure on that group. Les has done pretty well. Just has his annual brain fart in at least one, if not a couple of games every season. Nobody is perfect.

Maybe we were expecting too much in our want for a perfect season.

What made the loss heightened was that we appeared to never even take a shot at winning.

Miles said it himself. When we were down 15 -0 in the middle of the 4th Q, we were still in it. Have to disagree. The offense should have gotten very aggressive much earlier in the game. Handing the ball up the middle and running the option continuously did absolutely nothing to give us a remote shot at a Win.

You would take Miles' successor, Gundy, over Miles? Interesting - and if you ask anybody from OkSt, you would get the exact same decision.

Wonder if Gundy would have gone down without a fight in the BCSNC and used the "better feet" QB BS excuse??

Tt is done and over with. MILES frickED UP BAD. He can babble all the BS excuses that he wants. MILES GOT SCHOOLED AND HARD. If history tells us anything, it is that MILES will frick up every year in at least one game. Nothing we can do about it.

Just enjoy the winning season(s) and never expect a BCSNC. If it happens, great but I will never ever expect it in the future.

Did you only know where Bielema currently coaches?

What has anyone of those coaches done that's been better than Miles in the last seven years? If you think anyone wins more games than Miles over that stretch, than you discredit the SEC.

Bobby Bowden finished a thirteen year stretch of top 4 finishes with two national titles. Is that success to some of you?

Urban is top 5 xs and os but he cant manage a program. THat was the knock on him coming into florida and should still be the knock. He never spent more than 3 years at a school before UF and he left UF after tebow in shambles. They just recruited stars to recruit stars and not to fit a team. Now they have bits and pieces that dont fit anywhere and only have about 70 or so guys on scholarship.

Meyer can be accused of just capitalizing on what Zook built and being fortunate in having Leak, Tebow, etc. Meyer left the program in much worse shape that when he found it.

I like this thread...there is no Coach out there who folks can really say they would rather have than Miles. Rich Rod was hot...then he got beflumoxed and lost in his final pre-bowl game at W VA...a game that would have gotten them to the BCSNCG. Then he flamed at Michigan and it was ugly! Folks wanted Mack Brown at LSU a while back...he has issues. They wanted Erickson...he has issues. Richt has issues! So do both Kelly's, all 3 Stoops brothers, the Bowden brothers, etc.

My favorite coaches are Miles, Pelini and the Rutgers coach. Petrino is very good, but when I met him at an Auburn-Bama game (while Tuperville) was still the coach, he just didn't seem nice. Spurrier is very good and speaks his mind...he would have yanked JJ, then yanked Lee, then yanked JJ again (ala the 1997 LSU-Florida game with Palmer and Johnson), but he is older now...but very good!!

How about once well though of coaches like Neuheisal, Willingham...it is hard to stay on top!

Mullen is a good coach, but he misleads kids in recruiting and his selection of QB's to recruit so far as been weak at MS State (he put his eggs in the Newton basket in 2010 and ended-up with nothing that year). He has yet to get a quality win in the West and is destined to be a 6-6 to 7-5 coach most years at State.
