Going back to the OP and the assertion that the SEC is not the best conference in FB.
If it's not, then why are there more SEC players in the NFL than any other conference?

Ah, you have reading problems.
I said "in the OP".
That means Original Post.

The issue has been discussed several times in this thread. "Thread" means this topic on this board.

Haven't seen anyone from Oregon address my question.

But if you are willing to admit that the SEC is the strongest conference in FB then huzzahs to you.

1. LSU doesn't have Nick Fairly

Any fan from Oregon using this point is clueless. I've never heard an informed Oregon fan using this as a serious reasoning for a possible Oregon victory.

quote:

2. Oregon will be the fastest team LSU's seen in a while (?? there's a reason analysts say that oregon reminds them of an SEC team...)

I don't really know how anyone really proves this. The only timed result are for those guys who are on the track team at Oregon. I don't think they release their winter testing results. I would think hand timed highschool scouting 40 times would be useless. I've read several places that many teams purposely put out fake 40 times. I can say this much. My friends out in Knoxville who attended the Ducks game last year said they're speed as a team was amazing. I've heard many coaches say it. 40 times don't really matter anyway unless all anyone did was run in a straight line. Who knows on this.

3. JJ sucks

His numbers haven't great and I've heard many LSU fans say the same thing. We'll see. I haven't seen enough to make that call.
quote:

4. LSU Interior line and LB are weak, thus will get ran all over

Have yet to see any discussion on this. From what I've read LSU is having some issues LB issues but I haven't heard anything on the Oregon boards about a weak line.

quote:

5. Chip Kelly's brilliant masterminded new triple option scheme with secret pistol formations will be unstoppable! (wtf, seriously saw some stuff on this)

He's actually got a quad option scheme as well. If your referring to the Fishduck article that was posted here your exaggerating quite. Not really the point that he was trying to get across.

quote:

8. The game isn't on "swamp grass" and Oregon's speed will be amplified by the "astro turf"

Yeah unless it's that same garbage they had at the championship game that cause a bit of a slip and slide.

Correct.

Define "a while" LSU plays teams as fast, or faster, 8-9 times each year.

3. JJ sucks
Well, you got me there.

quote:

4. LSU Interior line and LB are weak, thus will get ran all over
Don't confuse young with weak.

5. Chip Kelly's brilliant masterminded new triple option scheme with secret pistol formations will be unstoppable! (wtf, seriously saw some stuff on this)

The master of the triple option in Ga Tech thought that, too.

Unstoppable.

6. It's easier to get into a bowl game in the SEC than PAC because you can schedule 4 ooc games in the SEC
An SEC schedule is the toughest schedule in the nation.

quote:

7. The sec isn't the best conference, they just win the NC because they might or might not have the one best team (which happened to be 4 diff teams now)
5 years running. . .4 different teams.

Must be a fluke.

quote:

8. The game isn't on "swamp grass" and Oregon's speed will be amplified by the "astro turf"
LSU is faster than Oregon.

It's just true.

I you can back that up using something other than 40 times from rivals I would love to see it.

this team will push the limits of LSU in more ways than 1. If LSUs offense plays like they are capable, they will put pressure on Oregons defense - which will give us an advantage.
Time of possession is critical eventhough they run that up tempo offense. I believe that this is really going to be a dog fight.

LSU will be lucky to win...well we are talking about Les.

we've scheduled the likes of Arizona before. They were our gimme OOC games.

More like that was your tough OOC. Pac 10/12 doesn't get to play little sisters of the blind in week 10 essentially giving them another bye.

It's not even an arguing point. Look at the teams in the Pac-10 last year that missed a bowl game by one game. Take out a league game and put in a punching bag and boom Pac-10 has more bowl teams.

Show me a link on this one. I've seen conversations about LSU's Dline not being as good as Auburn's last year but that in no way says they are weak.

These are legit points.

LSU did well against WVU but looked like arse against Auburn last year.

Right, we've never seen a faster team then the Ducks. Anyone remember who was on that 2008 Florida team?

Are we sure Oregon has Percy Harvin, Jeff Demps, Chris Rainey, Louis Murphy, Deonte Thompson, Will Hill, THE Cam Newton (FYI), Major Wright, Brandon James, I could go on and on and on and didn't even mention Tebow. If Oregon fans are wondering, check out this who's who of fast players that Florida put on the field. That line of reasoning is a joke. So, regardless you won't be the fastest team we've ever played even if you get Usain Bolt in camp. Just because you can't conceive of a bunch of fast teams, doesn't mean they didn't exist and we didn't play them. Oregon may be fast, but the SEC has teams that are fast ALL the time--not just every now and then.

I'm pretty sure the basis of the argument is that the players on the field Sep. 3rd have never played against a team with the collective speed of Oregon. How many players for LSU that PLAYED against the 08 Florida team, will be playing Sep 3rd?

If any Oregon fan argues that Oregon will win, or even attempt to win the T.O.P. then they don't know Oregon. I will be extremely surprsied if Oregon has the ball more than 22-23 minutes. I think last year Oregon's average T.O.P. per game was around 20-21 minutes.

I think the point is that our tempo is faster than anyone else in the country. However, last year individual players like Lavasier Tuinei (LT), Jeff Maehl, and Drew Davis (WR corp) will not when a foot race with a lot of teams. This year I expect more of the same with LT. However, our backfield will be pretty impressive.

On the d side of the ball, we will have more straighline speed than ever. However, I guarantee you that Bama (probably faster) and Arky are as fast. I would compare our d to Arky.

UO's week 3, 8, and 12 opp couldn't beat little sisters of the blind.

You mean Or. St. the same team that only lost to LSU in Death Valley because they missed 3 extra points. The same team that was in position to win the Pac 10 2 of the last 3 seasons in the final week doesn't beat sisters of the blind?

Wash. St. is much inproved this year and will win 5-6 games. Book it.

Mizz St. is the gimmie that was a late fill in because of other teams backing out.

I'd take Wash. St. and Or. St over Northwestern St, Miss. St., Kentucky, Toss up with Tenn (see if they improve again this year), Western Kentucky, and Ole Miss.

Or St with 7 losses and 5 wins; no bowl appearance. Your reference to their game in 2004when LSU went 9-3 and was ranked 16th-Or St 2004 finished 7-5 and defeated Notre Dame in the Insight Bowl. Not exactly the same teams as LSU 2011 and a 5 win 2010 Or st.

Mizz St.- how dare you schedule such a cupcake.

Wash St- 2 wins- you think is better than a top 20 ranked Miss St who went 9-4 and beat Mich 52-14 in the 2010 Gator Bowl.

Go post this crap on a OU website.
