The NFL has thus far voluntarily adopted a rule that players are not drafted until they are three years out of high school or 21 years of age, Look for a push to change that rule to mimic basketball.

the NFL has no desire to change this rule and has actually gone to court to fight to keep this rule in place.

they WANT guys to be 21 with 3 years training before coming into their league.

No it was collectively bargained, and it is neither the players', coaches', nor owners' interest in having teenagers in the NFL.

This draft is going to be the precipice for opting out. Truly believe it's going to show how many poor decisions were made.

Well they aren’t wrong

actually, they are wrong.

pretty much every job on the planet has minimum requirements.

The NFL’s minimum is an age. not an education level. Trust me, 21 is not an uncommon age either.

My 18 year old son is struggling to find a decent job anywhere that doesn’t have a 21 year old minimum age limit.

and that’s for an entry level high school diploma position.
not one that requires a multi-million dollar investment.

the NFL has already won lawsuits about this and will again.

the closest thing we have to go off of is Mike Williams back in ‘05ish.

he declared for draft during the month or so that it was legal. Then NCAA rules he couldn’t come back when the rule was overturned and he was no longer eligible.

he’s only previous guy i can think of the “voluntarily” sat an entire season before the draft.
