Remember the big argument about Georgia not winning the conference in '07 so they didn't deserve to get to the MNC game. I have a good feeling all you purple and gold glasses wearing fools with change your tone if a miracle happens and LSU gets put in that same spot. Let the "this is different" comments begin.......
The best explaination I would say is this.
A "conference championship" has an indeterminate value. Winning say, the Big 12 title means more than , the Sun Belt.
When comparing teams between conferences, to give the conference championship more value you also have to compare the conference. While say the Pac 10 and Big 12 may be closer than the B12 and SBC, there is some difference.
In the LSU-UGA case, those teams WERE in the same conference - ergo the title did have a DEFINITIVE meaning to both.
In 2003, while much of the USC fest centered on LSU, it was really OKLAHOMA that 'stole' the Trojans BCS spot.
USC won the PAC 10 with one loss (to a mediocre Cal team). Had the Trojans instead lost to higher-rated Oregon, they would not have had the designation of being the league 'champion' but
In 2007, I personally thought that UGA should have PLAYED LSU for the national championship. If not UGA, then Oklahoma should have played LSU.
Ohio State was basically given a free pass cause they had 1-loss compared to 2 for those schools. But if you look at the teams UGA and Oklahoma beat, they 'accomplished' more.

Yes, I graduated from there but I'm sure you are some LSU wannabe. Did I mention I have a masters degree too?
Let me guess, your supposed masters degree is in either:
1. Music
2. Education
3. Art History
And I'll lay odds that you aren't working in any of the fields to make use of the education that mom and dad paid for. If you are, it's probably as a gym coach making about $5K more than the ditch digger you were making fun of. Right?

Who cares about the circumstances? If you can't win your conference, you don't belong in the MNC.

I still don't think lsu should get in over an auburn team with the same amount of losses, but tcu and boise are different stories

again, a purely subjective argument about an arbitrary title.
the big 10 doesn't currently have a championship game. if they have three one loss teams that potentially didn't play each other, then they could have three recognized 'co-champions' (with a tie-breaker for the BCS bid).
would you penalize a SEC west team if alabama, lsu and auburn were all 11-1 and split with each other, but only one could go to the championship game?
