Ace, Actually I always love reading history lessons of any kind. Any LSU poster that has given any, on any subject on here I actually really enjoy reading.

Ya that's funny that it came from Animal House and it spun off from there. It's funny because that movie was filmed entirely on Campus at the University Of Oregon. Now that you know that little Gem, you may not like that movie now, lol Ironic huh.

Oregon is nothing like Montana? I am related to half the State of Montana but grew up my junior high years to current in Oregon where all my Dads family is from. I think I know both states very well. And unless you have lived in both States for many years and want to talk Oregonian and Montanian issues, you might want to take a back seat. Eastern Oregon which is where I was raised is identical to Montana in culture, landscape and surroundings. Same with Idaho. Eastern Oregon is more like those two States(cowboy territory, rural, wide open spaces, tons of mountains, not much rain, everybody Conservative), then Western Oregon where I have lived for many years now.

As far as the German Autobahn and Montana comparisons, I was only comparing one principle only- Germany does not have a speed limit(on Autobahn). And Montana for a very long time did not also. If you wish to challenge that fact you might want to ask another Montana guy as you will look retarded trying to rewrite Montana's long and semi recent history.

So who's the dumbass?

Let's say your 18 year old son had been riding with Cliff and he had an accident going 118 mph and your son was killed. Would you say "well, it was an accident and there was nothing that could have been done to prevent it", or would you place any blame on the driver for going 118 mph?

Why would anyone here care whether or not that movie was filmed at Oregon? There are so many other schools that LSU fans are busy hating than worrying about the Ducks. So draw a number and get your arse to the back of the line.

So me saying that it's not like that now, in conjunction with what you just posted, somehow makes me the dumbass?

And where exactly did this take incident occur? Oh that's right, the side you said isn't like Montana.

Any other stupid irrelevant crap you want to post?

That's false. Depends on what you hit and where you are.

LNCHBOX, ya, I too chuckled when I read that comment, how no one can walk away from a accident at 118mph. I race motorcycles and let me tell ya, most do walk away. And guys can get up to 210mph depending on the Circuit they are riding on. Heck, I just watched a Motorcycle Race out of Europe online that I pay for and in just one race alone there were around 9 riders that crashed. Probably only 1 guy was not able to walk away from his. And btw, most were going around 150 or more. I have seen several wipe out at over 200mph. For a bike it all depends if its a high side or a low side crash. The low sides are no problem. Its the high sides that buck you off. And it all depends on how you land. The sliding on the pavement is no problem.

But if you want to speak of just cars. Well, like was said. Totally depends on where was hit, or if vehicle flipped and many other factors. In our Football players situation he was on the freeway with hardly another soul out at night then. And unless a another car were to jump a barrier in the middle of the freeway and be drunk and come the opposite way, a head on collision is super rare on the freeway. Most freeway accidents are just drivers going to fast and they get distracted and have to brake really quick and rear end a person.

LNCHBOX, your trying awful hard to twist my words and meanings. Your using straw men. I was only comparing one fact. Germany has no speed limit. For many years Montana did not as well(and I can easily remember it like that). Both are and or were not unsafe but actually had very low accident rates. That is all. You are trying to hard to spin things.

Your last comment you did the same thing. You fished for a spin and debate when there was none.

Germany's roads were designed for that. Montana does not have enough traffic volume in the area where the speed was loosely regulated to make it unsafe.

Oregon, specifically where the incident occurred, has neither of those characteristics. It is very dangerous and not "just a traffic violation" when the driver had an expired license.

So, when it's late at night and the freeway is less crowded, it's perfectly fine to break the law? What if he had been caught driving drunk? Would that be Ok since it was late and hardly any traffic? And I'm pretty sure if you have a blowout or swerve to miss an animal in the road at 118 mph, the chance of being seriously injured or killed is far greater than when you're driving 60 mph.

According to the Oregon State Police statement.

Man, what is with some of you LSU fans? I have never seen a people group so quick to just jump and assume things before. Is the whole South like this, or is this a LSU thing? I have noticed this trend often. People on here often pounce with reckless abandon just assuming things. Even more in this story, because the words, "rental car" were in the story, many on here just immediately assume we had a tOSU situation going on here. I wonder if its because of the vast longtime corruption in your Conference you are a part of. And you believe everybody does it type mentality. And then you just assume there must be fowl play involved because that is regular behavior in the SEC. I wonder...

At this point, I have to believe that you are just trolling on here, or you are as stupid as the Grand Canyon is wide.

Obviously we will not know more about the NCAA/Oregon course of action until a later date, but for the moment, I have compiled the Oregon Traffic laws that were violated and the consequences:

Speeding:

quote:

811.109 Penalties for speed violations. (1) Violation of a specific speed limit imposed under law or of a posted speed limit is punishable as follows: (2) Notwithstanding subsection (1) of this section, if the speed limit is 65 miles per hour or greater and: (c) The person is exceeding the speed limit by more than 20 miles per hour, the offense is a Class A traffic violation. (5) If a person drives 100 miles per hour or greater when the person commits a violation described in this section, a court shall impose the following in lieu of a punishment otherwise imposed under this section:       (a) A fine of $1,000; and       (b) A suspension of driving privileges for not less than 30 days nor more than 90 days.       (6) When a court imposes a suspension under subsection (4) or (5) of this section, the court shall prepare and send to the Department of Transportation an order of suspension of driving privileges of the person. Upon receipt of an order under this subsection, the department shall take action as directed under ORS 809.280. [1995 c.383 §14; 2003 c.819 §17; 2005 c.491 §1]

Driving with a suspended license:
quote:

811.175 Violation driving while suspended or revoked; penalties. (1) A person commits the offense of violation driving while suspended or revoked if the person does any of the following: (a) Drives a motor vehicle upon a highway during a period when the person’s driving privileges or right to apply for driving privileges have been suspended or revoked in this state by a court or by the Department of Transportation. (4) The offense described in this section, violation driving while suspended or revoked, is a Class A traffic violation except as otherwise provided in ORS 811.182. [1983 c.338 §598; 1985 c.16 §304; 1987 c.730 §1; 1987 c.801 §9; 1989 c.171 §91; 1989 c.636 §45; 1997 c.249 §228; 1999 c.1051 §90; 2009 c.395 §10]

Although he was not cited for it, here is the law on "Reckless Driving" which it certainly appears he broke:

quote:

811.140 Reckless driving; penalty. (1) A person commits the offense of reckless driving if the person recklessly drives a vehicle upon a highway or other premises described in this section in a manner that endangers the safety of persons or property.       (2) The use of the term “recklessly” in this section is as defined in ORS 161.085.*****       (3) The offense described in this section, reckless driving, is a Class A misdemeanor and is applicable upon any premises open to the public. [1983 c.338 §571] SPECIAL SAFETY MEASURES *****161.085 Definitions with respect to culpability. As used in chapter 743, Oregon Laws 1971, and ORS 166.635, unless the context requires otherwise: (9) “Recklessly,” when used with respect to a result or to a circumstance described by a statute defining an offense, means that a person is aware of and consciously disregards a substantial and unjustifiable risk that the result will occur or that the circumstance exists. The risk must be of such nature and degree that disregard thereof constitutes a gross deviation from the standard of care that a reasonable person would observe in the situation.

As for those who were wondering why he was not arrested:

quote:

810.410 Arrest and citation. (1) A police officer may arrest or issue a citation to a person for a traffic crime at any place within or outside the jurisdictional authority of the governmental unit by which the police officer is authorized to act as provided by ORS 133.235 and 133.310. (3) A police officer:       (a) Shall not arrest a person for a traffic violation.

The way I read it, he is guilty of two (2) Class A violations - Speeding in excess of 100 mph and driving with a suspended license.

According to this link - LINK that is a minimum of $1148 fine for the speeding and a minimum of $472 fine for the suspended license violation. I think the NCAA should lay low on the investigation of the rental car and just watch the cash flow into and out of Harris' bank account as he pays the minimum $1620 in fines and his license is suspended another 30-90 days on top of its current suspension.

Ace, you are a trip buddy:) Actually, we Duck fans cant get enough of them. Maybe its like a fine unique micro brew. The first time I had a pale ale I thought it tasted bad, way too bitter. But I quickly soon developed a strong liking to it. Those extra hops throw a guy the first few times. Its an acquired taste. Same thing with a dark Porter. It grows on you in time.

But come on. Our uniforms cant be that bad to non Native people can they? I mean, its not like with BSU and that smurf turf that is an abomination to ones eyes or anything. And well, our fans cant get enough of them. We think they are the best in CF. And so do the recruits as we have had many recruits who gave the biggest reason to joining UO as they liked our cool uniforms.

Green and Yellow may not be the first choice of top colors but you have Purple and Yellow. So I know you already like Yellow. So look at it this way; you are already half way there. Then try someday just taking out the Purple and changing it with Green. (Duck Mallard Green). When you do, I think you might be all Golden!

Guys I would like to introduce to you our little brother, Washington. The University of Washington Fuskies have lost to Oregon the last 7 straight times and with a margin of 20 points or more in each game. As a result their fans hate the living piss out of us, beings how we each are the others main rival.

Thus, Washington fans are very known in the Pacific NW to follow and troll any blog or newspaper article mentioning of the Oregon Ducks. They love to make stuff up and flame to high heaven. They will not stop in their envy and jealousy of Oregon being the King of the PAC for 2 years straight now. I knew one would show up, as they always do. Look for more to show up in time before the game. Their envy of us drives them nuts. So, you are welcome to disregard this Fusky or at the very least take every word with a grain of salt. You know how Barners troll every article mentioning Bammers out there? And they completely take over a blog? Well, UW does the same thing with us. Little brother is very jealous of his master. Little brother should be singing his school song of "Bow down to Oregon" but he cant remember the words, so he comes out to troll. They will be quick to correct anyone and say their school song is titled, "Bow down to Washington" but they just do not get it yet. Ignore them. Next year you will see tons of them and you will see why so in time...

Have a great day Rattlehead and back to your trolling...

Why?

You would either come back with some piss-poor, grammatical error-filled retort that had little to do with what I said, and difficult to read, or you'd play the victim and espouse about how us "Southern Folk" are only out to bash the proud, sparkling clean reputations of the University of Oregon and the Pac-10/12.

No, thanks...

Bison is at least willing to have rational discussions, stays on topic, and is willing to look at things without his green and yellow glasses on.

Maybe you should try to be more like him?
