If Joe has aspirations of becoming a college HC, he needs to learn more about running an entire program. Staying at LSU will afford him that chance as it will Dave Aranda. Being paid handsomely makes if difficult to accept a HC job at a University that pays much less. As was the case with Aranda's name being mentioned this year. Aranda makes $2.5M per year, and I doubt he's willing to relocate his family for a lower tier HC position making $1M or less. Brady will soon receive a hefty raise to nearly $1.5M per year.

I could see interest in him as an NFL WR coach or QB coach, but not as an OC. He's never had an OC title before on the college level or in the NFL with the Saints. An NFL team isn't going to pay a position coach $1.5M per year, so again I see Brady remaining at LSU. He's happy at LSU and is going to be even happier as soon as he receives that hefty raise in salary.

I 100% agree with you if this was 2015, still mostly on-board with your statement. The NFL has been doing weird things the last couple of years though. They have really been embracing spread concepts and the college mentality. I still think it is likely Joe stays, but things are different in the NFL now. See examples like Sean McVay as HC, Kingsbury as HC after he was fired at Tech, and Kellen Moore being named OC after 1 year of coaching experience. The NFL used to be known for hiring retreads because they have valuable experience, see Rex and Rob Ryan, even though there experience was at failing.

I am just saying it is POSSIBLE one of the teams takes a flyer on the kid at $1.5 mil.

I hope you are correct - I would love for him to stay a while. But, it is starting to come out that Don Martindale (Ravens current DC) has him pegged as his OC if he is to get a NFL Head Coach position. If that is the case, I'm hoping that it is at least with my Cowboys.

It would be nice to get these contracts negotiations done. I guess will have to hear about this crap for the next few weeks though.

He will slide into the OC spot when Ensminger retires. He needs that for his resume since he's young and hasn't held a coordinator position yet.

Can't see him pulling his ripcord yet for a program, failing or making a very small "splash" and then falling off into anonymity.

Once he's got some years as OC, i can see him moving on.

Brady has huge upside and learned under the tutelage of Sean Payton among other offensive geniuses. And what he's done in a single year at LSU is unprecedented.

I can absolutely think that it's plausible that an NFL team will take a chance on him.

It's my opinion that he's better off learning the coaching ropes a couple more years at LSU, but I'm biased for obvious reasons. I think another team would pay him more than $1.5mm so that'll be an interesting dynamic to keep an eye on.

If Brady sticks around and the world sees him turn this year's backup quarterback, Brennan, into a monster the next two years, Brady's stock will be at an all time high and he'll get bigtime P5HC offers or jump to the NFL.

My gut tells me we keep him for another couple years. I hope I'm right.

Does he? If an NFL head coach is willing to hire him as his OC, then it would suggest that he doesn't need to slide into the OC spot at LSU to build his resume. I'm hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst. I would consider us very very lucky to have Joe Brady coaching at LSU next season.

I think Brent Venables at Clemson is in the same situation. I think he’s waiting till a really good head coaching job comes his way and not the first one. I think Brady when’s he older might take a job like a USC, Florida State or Texas. Brady is still learning and a good recruiter. Aranda on the other side is in a different situation. UNLV is not a power 5 job. They were going to pay him $1.5m whilst he is payed $2.5m here, UNLV’s pitch was that they were the only show in town which they were not because of the Raiders moving there and that they would build a $35m new football facility because there are high school facilities way better than that. The other problem with Aranda becoming a head coach is his recruiting. He’s not known to be a terrific recruiter. Successful head coaches are great recruiters. Look at Dabo and Saban. They also have to be able to build a brand and become one of these schools kids dream of gong to which I think he would be good at.

What if someone offers him 4 mil at a high institution? Why are we under the assumption no big schools would take a chance and give him the keys?

If that's what he wants, then maybe so if the paycheck is right. Will an NFL head coach pull this guy in with no previous coordinator experience as the guy to help him keep his newly minted head coach job>? Maybe... If he stays at LSU he can keep the "shine" on his career until a "dream" spot opens. Will just have to see what his goals are.

But the Joe Brady name is hot so if he jumps now and fails, then the luster is lost.

Joe will have to choose wisely or he could ruin his future if he's not ready.

If what is being reported is true, then the answer to your question is yes.

I have been saying this for 3 months. The Bengals would be fools if they don't offer Brady their OC position. Likewise, Brady is probably a fool if he doesn't take it.

Not with just 1 year of experience on a college football staff. He was a GA with Moorhead not an actual position coach. No one is paying him $4M after just 1 season at LSU.

With success comes the gutting of assistants. It is what it is. Brady and Aranda will not be here much longer. Maybe another year or two.

The sign of a great head coach is his ability to reload and continue hiring the right guys.

What no one is talking about is Coach E working with Brady for a full year and how much Coach E has learned. From the stories ive heard, coach E is right there with him in the office studying and drawing up plays at 4am, then Coach E is the one actually calling the plays on Saturday for the most part.

Yeah, Brady brought the NO Saints system here, but now Coach E, Brennan, Chase, and others have had time to study and learn it first hand.

If Brady leaves don't be surprised if Coach E and Brennan are still lighting up defenses next year.
