Well if it worked out under DiNardo...then he would not have been fired.
That was my point.

It's not that Archer couldn't recruit... it's Arnsparger who didn't. Archer took over with a loaded senior class leftover tform the Stovall days and won with them, but the talent drain was apparent in the underclassmen. Archer wasn't elite recruiter, but Arnsparger was fairly indifferent to it.

No. Really, really just no. Arnsparger may not have liked recruiting, but he brought in a shite load of talent. I'm copying some info that will probably be nearly unreadable here, but if you copy it into Excel it should be easy to read:

Archer, who inherited a top 10 team loaded with NFL talent that we didn't see again until maybe Saban's third year
There were plenty of NFL players for Saban to work with his 1st year.

Yeah, but we are talking about a different level. I don't know what to say to people who don't recognize how much more talent Saban brought in. Of his predecessors, only Arnsparger came close.

When LSU took the field in the damn black socks.

If I recall correctly, the team wore black socks without Curley knowing they were going to do it. They never did it again.

GO Frick yourself for reminding us of this.

It’s probably a good thing to remember just how awful things can get. We’re all probably a little spoiled from the golden era of LSU football inder Saban and Miles.

I think there’s a good number of us who were at least kids during those miserable years, but as time goes on you’ll have more and more posters who weren’t even alive during that time.
