In the midst of everything else yesterday.. anyone have any idea why, on 3rd & 1... we throw long.. it's incomplete and then we kick a fg? Scott can get 1 yard easy. Even Fouts, the tv commentator said "very curious play call."

aside from the idiotic unsportsmanlike penalties, this is the moment of the game i keep going back to....even if we get one yard and get the first down but then settle for a field goal, we still run a good 2 minutes off the clock. but to throw a fade to the endzone with one yard to get to keep the drive alive.....very poor call.

Made absoulutely no sense. Hell, run Quinn Johnson up the middle. You burn clock and get the chance to score a TD before half. It would have made the difference in the game.

I agree on running Johnson... the only thing I could think was they thought since Arky was looking for a run... maybe they could surprise 'em and hit a long one. The play call made no sense.

I don't see anything wrong with the call. LSU's O-line wasn't doing shite for Scott.

that was the 1st half. LSU was doing a pretty decent job running the ball then.

No different than Arkansas throwing deep on 4th and 1. If that pass is incomplete every hog fan is saying, "why didn't they just pick up the 1st down and spike the ball and then take 3 shots at the endzone?"

Arkansas only had about 30seconds left and was behind by 6 with NO timeouts remaining. that was a decent call by petrino.

That still doesn't change the fact that retarded fans would be all over message boards complaining about the call. Of all the things to complain about yesterday, the 3rd & 1 throw doesn't even make my list.

a fuking fade on 3rd 1, just after an int with a t.o. left. ... thats fuking brilliant.

good to know we have fans that think that is a good call.

thats b/c you are stupid... just a min or 2 earlier CS runs untouched for a td from about 3-4 yrds out... we had the momentum and a td at that point most likely would have deflated them goin into the half.

from my earlier thread.....

I am baffled by Les Miles and the play at the end of the first half. 38 seconds left and I think 2 time-outs.

On 3rd down, he chose to pass, incomplete and then kicked a field goal....
I am not using 20/20 vision,
I am looking a the options BEFORE the played was carried out.

Option 1:
we pass (ONE TRY),
-if incomplete, we kick a field goal.
-if complete, it is obvious.

Option 2:
we run for the 1 yard (we had been running VERY well at that point)
-if we make it, then we have THREE tries to the end zone, instead of ONE....and can still kick a field goal
-if we do not, we can still go for the field goal.

a difference of TWO MORE TRIES at a TOUCHDOWN.
yet we chose option 1.
It makes no sense.

Great question. The edge was open all day. Toss right or left, misdirection and play action QB keeper was open all day. If we HAD to throw, why didn't we throw to Byrd. He was beating his man every play.
