The Running Game killed JaMarcus's chances in winning championships. People tend to forget there is more to football then passing to receivers and making touchdowns. While JR was there they had problems establishing the running game. Then Jimbo is gone and Crowton comes in and the running game becomes awesome a season too late for JR.

You'd better link that shite because I haver been on this site and elsewhere for 5 years, and I NEVER heard anything like that. JRuss may have made some bad decisions in gaames, but I NEVER heard that he was not a hard worker. This really pisses me off.

Saban definitely questioned his work ethic, either on his radio show or at a Monday press conf.

Let's keep it simple.
JR had the ability to make every single throw on the football field with relative ease. He was without a doubt one of the greatest college football talents EVER. Now, what did he do with that talent as a collegian?

Notre Dame was made for a player like JR. They were big, slow and clumsy. Our three NFL boud receivers were wide open all night long. Good thing because he still threw into double and triple coverage and had one picked of and had his usual fumble. Name one player on the ND Team that could have started for Ohio State or Miami. Was there any player on the Notre Dame team that made an NFL roster? Nine of the players that Flynn faced on the Miami team were drafted that year and all made an NFL roster. There were also several off the Miami team that were drafted the next two years including one Kenny Phillips a safety that was drafted this year.

I listeneded to all the call in shows, and don't reacall this. JRuss did as much in his college career as John Elway.

so by playing way worse, that merited you being borderline mentally retarded?

Brainiac, who played "way worse"? In 07 we set a new offensive record, we won a national championship, vs the number one defense in the country. If you remember, Oklahoma was the number one defense in the country when we beat them. Playing teams with defenses like Miami, Oklahoma, and Ohio State tends to make the going a little tougher than playing Notre Dame and Iowa.

Him and Bowe were incredible together. It'll be a while before we see another pair like those two.

Not going to read what you're arguing about but Brady Quinn. I win.

Szmardjia and Quinn would have started for either.

Russell lost two games in 06
Flynn lost two games in 07

Its not JR's fault or Flynn's virtue that WVU can't beat Pitt at home with a chance for NC on the line.

There is so much stupid in this thread its ridiculous.

he only completed 56% of his passes and threw 11 interceptions. His TDtoINT was 1.9

Russell completed 68% of his passes and threw 8 ints. His TDtoINT was 3.5.

Also, my personal opinion, is that the defenses of the SEC (especially at the top) were a lot better in 2006 than 2007.

#5 Florida 06> #9 Florida 07 (at UF in 06, home in 07)
#3 Auburn 06> #17 Auburn 07 (at Auburn in 06, home in 07)
#5 Arkansas 06> UR Arkansas 07 (at Arkansas 06)
#8 Tenn. 06> #14 Tenn 07 (at Tenn in 06, neutral 07)

if you remember, Flynn came into the Iowa game before Russell and he did terrible. Iowa had a pretty good D that year anyway

The fact remains that when Flynn was given the snaps in practice, that a starter normally gets, he consistently moved the team, no matter the competition. The trophies at LSU prove it.
He doesn't throw as far, he doesn't throw as pretty a spiral, but the team scores.
If you add the interceptions and fumbles of both quarterbacks during the 06 and 07 season the turnovers are about equal.
Individual accomplishments don't necessarily make team champions. I admire JR and am glad he played for LSU. I hope he has success at Oakland. If he makes the improvements in areas that Kiffen has mentioned, I think he can be all pro one day. If he doesn't I'm confident it won't be his fault, in some folks opinion.
If Flynn is fortunate, he may get a chance to start one day in the NFL. If not he has already accomplished more than all but two other LSU quarterbacks. That's a pretty good record.

You tell em roygu! The Russell apologists will never cease, so don't bother with it. Plus, at halftime of the National Championship Game we all saw how LSU proud Russell was -not- and how he looked, and he did not even mention LSU in the interview at all. He is pretty much all about himself, and it is now showing in Oakland, since he got his money, it looks like he does not give much of a shite except about eating.

Russell is the LSU advertisement. As an alumnus of LSU I have to announce to anyone I meet where I went to school. People like Russell do not. . .the Youtube video showed you why.

As someone mentioned earlier, it is unfortunate that these threads get high-jacked by people that don't realize that calling Russell a great quarterback isn't calling Flynn a poor one by default. Championships are wonderful but they aren't the end-all in determining greatness. Flynn took the opportunities given to him and capitalized on them many times. No one can take that away from him. Likewise, LSU can claim to have one of the most unique players in recent memory who's success as a quarterback helped build the reputation that makes LSU the team of this decade.

Finally, I am not clear on how the way Russell looked at halftime of the National Championship is related to what he could do when he was on the field of play itself. Everyone is in uniform there and he stood out because of his talent.

Why come to a school with the greatest fans in the world if their support only lasts as long as your eligibility? Particularly if that lack of support sounds like the same type of misinformation you would find on a board from one of our rivals.

he is at a lower weight than he was at the combine and has been the first one in and the last one out in oakland during the summer. Way to prove your stupidity.

oakland's coach has been praising his work ethic offseason, but I guess you are just to blind to see what is out there

the guy didn't do anything wrong off the field at lsu, but he gets ridiculed like he was some kind of thug

But isn't the ultimate goal to win a Championship? I often hear and see how professional athletes who fail to win the "big one" have somewhat of a tarnished legacy.

Sad to say but I figure it's the nature of the beast. Not flaming on JR here, I think he was awesome but I don't even watch pro football.
