I wasn't even involved with the Greek system, and I find this retarded. The whole student section is responsible, not just one small percentage.

my freshman yr was 94-95. it was around then.
this isn't really an issue of students being savages or whatever it's just that we didn't have every game televised back then. now with the sec network, espn, and cbs, a camera crew and sound crew will be at every game. so unfortunately it's just part of the times.
just like everyone has a camera/video and can be filmed at any time.

I would not want to cut the student section either. I sat (or rather STOOD) in the student section myself in the late 80's.

We didn't yell "AH"...."AH" during ONE OF LSU'S most TRADITIONALLLY REVERED songs going back to the 1930's !!!!!
And in the last few years, what has HAPPENED to the caliber and loyalty of LSU student ??????
Is THIS how they show their class and want LSU to be known ?????

Both are true BTW, but I doubt the rant is going to get a bunch 18-22 year olds to grow up overnight or get Joe Alleva fired so you may as well try to put something productive out there.

I've done neither of those. The only thing I've said is that there is no way that STTDB isn't happening when Neck gets played.

started sometime in the 90's, i believe it was done by 2002 or 2003.
First time I ever recalled hearing it, was a taunt directed at officials not long after a particularly bad call. I don't remember the specifics of the situation, but it didn't become a regular automatic addition to the song for a while, and that's when the song became verboten.

I'm not saying EVERYTHING was better. I sat near the student section for games last year, and I find them just as crazy and rowdy as 2 decades ago.

What is said is kind of right. There was a ton of vulgar yelling and shite when i was there 2002+ and the only thing that was ever in unison was Tiger Rag.
Once 07 rolled around it seemed the kids wanted a chant to every song which turned into profane language. Lets look at the list that started around 07.
1. OH We OH
2. 2nd down cheer got started with that gay WOOO
3. Neck- the student section started singing the words, "Talking out the side of your neck"
4. Neck- STTDB
all of those within a matter of 2 years.... So dont give me this bullshite that the student section is the same as it has been for 80 years.

And the student section has all sorts of vulgar stuff they have said for years. All the new vulgarity is in response to the administration trying to censor them. Anyone with half a brain could figure that out. When they made it known the we're taking away the songs everyone liked, it rallied the students to just do it to everything. Do I think that's a dumb response? Of course I do. But I'm not going to sit here and say students should lose tickets over it.
ETA: And 3 of your 4 listed things aren't even vulgar, so good job. Ohweeoh got banned because of one South Carolina game. It was never vulgar except for that one time.
