Orgeron is vastly overrated, but don’t ever compare Burrow to Newton

Well Chizik went .500 in the SEC the year after the NC, so that remains to be seen

It has that same feel. And I was concerned this would always be a problem if/when he didn't hire the right coordinators. This is why it's not good to be a "CEO" who delegates to everyone, without any viable input. It was great last year. But coordinators move on when they're successful. Then what? The head coach has to be the engine, or he isn't the head coach, at all.

Every head coach delegates to some degree. But a real CEO has a plan that he entrusts in his assistants to carry out. He'll give them some creative flexibility, but there is a certain philosophy that is expected to be upheld. And if adjustments are necessary, he'll make them... With Orgeron, he has no background in offensive or defensive playcalling, and it's doubtful he offers much in the way of general game planning. He recruits, says a bunch of rah, rah's on gameday, and then it's up to the coordinators to carry him.

How many assistants has Saban been through? Does it ever seem to affect him when they leave? When he finds something that works, he makes note of it, and he finds the guys who can implement what he wants to do. When coordinators leave, he doesn't lose his blueprints. That's why it was always hard to take Orgeron seriously as a head coach.
