Lee looked way better than the other two. JJ had several throws that would make you scratch your head. Mett threw the ball better than JJ also. The pick six was definitely JJ. Same old shite. He is not any better and never will be. Can't read a defense and scared to let it fly. We saw what his running ability did for us last year, a mediocre offense. We need a passer to go with our runningbacks. The move he pulled on Reid was anything but leadership. Terrible attitude, pathetic passer, and an average runner. Don't know why everyone is trying to lie to themselves.

Better hope Brock and Freak stay healthy at DT. I'm not worried at all at DE. But depth at DT, Extremely concerned.

+1

I posted the other day about how'd we get so small at DT and people jumped my shite.

If either Brockers or Freak go down, we got some real problems.

We are thin with a whole bunch of 283-287 lb guys.

A1Tiger,

Well, now I am confused again. I thought we had sorted it out that it was Mettenberger who threw the pick-6 interception; while Jefferson's interception had Reid step out of bounds (and therefore not a pick-6).

Thats how Chavis likes his DTs. He likes them mobile and quick, not space eaters. Brockers may be the biggest guy and he was a DE in HS

Metts was a mishandled handoff that was returned. JJs was a pick 6 as someone mentioned on the last page.

Yep, as long as Josh Downs is healthy, he is as a very good player - no where near being some kind of perceived liability.

It sounds like the defense is ahead of the offense, which is not all that surprising.

Since there is no consensus on how JJ played, I have to think the reports of him looking good are from people who support him no matter what, and the bad reports are from people who see his every mistake.

I would be real encouraged if everyone reported that he looked good. We don't need great. We just need average or slightly above that. To hear he's missing wide open receivers at this point, though, is very discouraging.

So can we all agree now that live 11 on 11 is harder than playing catch with your receivers on an empty field?

Good job mascona, keep selling the improvement of jj reads.

A1Tiger,

Go take a Xanax.

The Jefferson/Reid collision was awesome. I like to see that fire. Football players love contact. I guess he isn't a leader because he ran hard. Great synopsis.

Offense is always behind the defense this early. We only had 3 of our starting OL in. Our DL is better than expected. While he does still hold the ball to long his delivery has shortened and our DBs were blanketing our WRs.

Also I know a lot of people left early but when we ran our offense he looked good. Got the ball out quick and made good throws. The first 3/4 of the scrimmage was running an uptempo no huddle like Oregon to get our D ready. We went to huddle the last two series and the offense looked a lot better.

Maybe 10 years ago that was ok.

2000 DT:

305 - space eater
285 - mobile and quick
265 - too light

2011 DT:

325 - space eater
305 - mobile and quick
285 - too light

Brockers-315
Freak-310
Downs-280
Logan-285
Ego-290

Those are some big dudes and they are all fast. Its not about how much weight you have its about how you use that weight and how you use your hands, and thats why Downs is a starter

The problem is JJ is always behind every defense. He knew someone couldn't hit him so he took advantage. He would cry if someone did that to him.

Seems that we have 6 SEC ready DT's. Barring a rash of injuries, I think we are fine.
