Not at the beginning of the fall camp. There were video/pics and Mett was nowhere to be seen. There were several threads about his absence.
the entire team is the varsity dude. there isn't a JV. even the freshmen...

We see the "Jordan can make things happen with his legs" argument here a lot. Supposedly it keeps the offense moving. My question to that would be, if this is true why was the offense in 2008 superior to 2009 and 2010?
Again, this is not an argument for or against either player. It is a fact that Jefferson can scramble and keep plays alive, and that it has extended drives in the past. It does not, as I previously stated, outweigh his negatives.
You bring up 2008, 2009, and 2010...not me, but I will address it. The first thing that jumps out is the 2008 line was vastly superior to the 2009 line and it isn't even close to being a debate. Our numbers..yards per game, points per game, etc..were all much better than the other years. However, the turnovers did happen and did have a negative effect on the team and season. Some of the same issues that caused Lee's interception problems in 08 were still around in 09 and 10, mixed in with flashes of great play (just like 08).
There has been talk about Kragthorpe improving Jefferson, I hope he can also improve Lee. If that happens we'll have a better chance of getting more good play from one of the other. I don't care who it is. But the fact remains that neither player has shown the ability to be consistent and solid to this point.

That's why LSUsports.net differentiated between the two? Also, I never said there was a JV.

there's the upperclassman practice and the new signing class practice with a couple older guys sprinkled in. Its all the varsity team. I don't see what you are missing here really...
eta: I'm really not trying to be a wise-arse...

I don't understand what you are missing here as I said how was Mett supposed to compete against JJ and Lee when he wasn't participating against them head to head?

Do you think missing two "varsity" practices is enough to keep him out of competition for the job? There are 5 QBs, the reps have to be divided somehow.

it's pretty clear, Mett not practicing with the group that a web-geek labeled "Varsity" for a photo-album == Miles has no intention of giving Mett a shot at earning the starting job

I think not starting the last 2 years for LSU kept him out of the competition for the job. "Body of Work" is impossible to accumulate if there haven't been any games played in your tenure at LSU.

he was only at a different practice twice over the summer. all the same ones in the spring and all the same ones since those two.

Then why are you complaining about two practices in shorts? Just come out and say what you want to say. It isn't complicated.

I've said since Mett signed that JJ will be the starter in 2011. My stance hasn't changed. I was commenting on the competition being "Open". It never was.

I think he was making a point that obviously he wasnt being given the chance to work out with the starters if he was working with the freshman. Secondly as per reported several times from the radio guys since the team is back together JJ has bee getting 75% of the snaps with the ones.

well if the coaches have decided JJ is the starter than I hope so... I mean if they are implementing the offense its probably best to go with the guy who is going to be the starter

this is ultimately the point of contention...some think he hasn't been "given" the chance, other think he hasn't "earned" the chance.

Honestly, it should be even higher than 75% since he's the starter.
