Wes has been working on things with Cooper. I'm sure they want to get him alot of in game work against non-LSU bats. Regardless of where he slots, starter or relief, he's going to pitch alot of meaningful innings. This start may be meaningless in the sense of where he slots, but huge in his development. Ackenhausen is gonna surprise some people, and Herring is another lefty that will get work.
Wes also said that he wanted some extra work with Hurd this week. In other words, he won't be ready for a start this weekend, but we may still see him. I think it's both a part of the process for Hurd, as far as ramp up goes, and also a means to take a glance at him at the back end.
Shores is ready. But I think they also want to throw him out there quickly, for development purposes. Again, maybe not entirely indicative of where he slots, but moreso with the idea of getting his feet real wet sooner rather than later...no matter where he slots.
Point being: I don't think this weekend's rotation means much as a foreshadowing of who slots where. It's just a part of the process. Floyd is flying way under the radar. I'm wondering what the plan is for him. My gut tells me they're still not satisfied with his off speed, so he'll do extra work in between pen innings to get ready to slot in as a starter if need be. His game innings will be just to let it fly, test off speed here and there, kinda the Floyd we've always known.
