Jones is a question mark because he wants a lot of money. That might be what dropped his stock.

Cecchini's Bday is 4/20/91 so he is already 19.
pretty sure that would make him eligible after his Soph year

I am very very suprised that neither Jacoby Jones or Kevin Gausman has been picked yet, I probably say if either gets past the 5th round they will come to school.
It. Doesn't. Matter. Where. They're. Picked.

I'd say the 10th round.

It's all about the money each will get.

This is actually great news and he would start day 1 at 3rd base.

Yup, the only thing that is making teams pick him lower is because they're not sure if they can sign him.
They're losing a lower value pick on him just in case they can't sign. Doesn't mean he'll lose a $1 million+ bonus.

I think the rule is you must be 21 within 45 days of the draft. So that would be damn close. But I'm certain I've read somewhere that he would be draft-eligible.

it's definitely relevant
the more they fall, the more leverage the team gains
and by dropping, it proves that these teams arent highly interested in them, meaning less likely to throw money at them

No i actually said it was one of the worst teams he could go to but him only having to go to college for two years might get him to come if he doesn't get quite what he's asking for which is good news.

I'm not getting a good vibe from reading some draft reports that he'll end up at school. Boston definitely won't be shy on spending. Hopefully Ranaudo takes one for the team and uses up all of Boston's draft budget?

Is Dishon still on the board?

"more than a few people think the Dodgers took Zach Lee knowing that they can't sign him so they can get another pick next year"

They do lose leverage but if a club likes them enough, they're going to dish the money out. Sometimes they only draft lower because they have questions if they can even sign them. Like, asking for $3 million+ is a bit ridiculous.
IMO, the draft needs some type of money round cap for each rounds. Its bullshite how much they dick college baseball.
I think Gausman is dropping because he was a bit overrated to scouts. He was losing some heat on his FBs and his offspeed didn't look good.

yes, thats the rule.
if the draft is the same date after his soph year, he'll be eligible by 2-3 days

yeah, but when you get into these rounds, there are only a handful of teams that will throw lucrative money(million plus) to players at this point.
Red Sox being one. But like someone said, they have a lot of early picks they have to pay. If they really like Cecchinni, they'll pay him. But they already know what kind of money he wants.
They could have taken him earlier, and just paid him the money. they didn't. They are obviously going to want to negotiate on that 1.7 mil figure.
