i think cave will make or break this class. he comes and we have an answer at either LF or 1B, both huge needs. he goes pro, we're back to gaping holes in those positions
Agreed

I think we are good with Mr.Tulane at 1st(I'll refer to him as Mr. Tulane until he proves he belongs on a SEC team). Outfield is going to be a hole right now without a doubt. Cave would help out instantly, but then again maybe someone else can step up for us. I don't think he breaks us if he doesn't come, but it does put more pressure.

yea i forgot about bruno, but we've been hit or miss with transfers, so who knows

any idea why these guys are falling so far
Posted on 6/7/11 at 5:06 pm to DBG
I think he has an infield position with his name on it at the moment. That's not to say that he hangs on to it through the year.

Cave, an outfielder and left-handed pitcher, is a better prospect on the mound - more of a fourth or fifth round guy. He sits anywhere from 86-94 with his fastball and also throws a changeup and a slider. Committed to LSU, Cave is the kind of guy that could come out of college in three years as a first or second round arm.
Isn't the 6th round below the low end of any projection for Cave? The fact that scouts think he will be a first round guy after 3 years in college makes me optimistic.

Not sure if he pitches at LSU or stays in the outfield.

To me Jake Cave = Danny Hultzen

Which guys?
Posted on 6/7/11 at 5:18 pm to Adam4848
I'm guessing Goody, Baranik, the brothers Nola, and Magee.

Nick Goody 22 Round 689 to Yanks

They fell because of signability, meaning their asking price was higher than what teams were willing to pay. Aaron just selected in the 22nd round was a 5-6th round talent.
Look back to 07 with LeMahieu, 08 with Mahtook, and 10 with J Jones.

Geez. Regardless of how late in the draft it is, its always somewhat deflating to see the Yankees draft one of our signees.
Posted on 6/7/11 at 5:26 pm to SLtiger10
Why? They at least have a better shot at winning the world series.
Posted on 6/7/11 at 5:27 pm to Adam4848
so all 5 of these guys just mentioned will probably come to LSU
Posted on 6/7/11 at 5:28 pm to CajunFootball
Yankees might pay more, reducing the odds they come to school.
