Rays just selected Johnny Eierman. He will likely not see LSU.

Through this last pick we've lost 3 players in '3' rounds. Are we looking ahead or below pace to get most of the players on campus?

Eierman's got 12 players selected in front of him. If there was a best case scenario this was it.

I was thinking the same thing...where are the Rays going to get all of the money they need to sign all of these high draft picks?

Well, these were the 3 I think almost all expected to be gone. I think from rounds 4 on you have better shots at getting some of these guys. However, the ones that are all MLB will be gone no matter what.

Yeah he won't be getting the type of money typical 3rd round guys will get based on that.

I agree...PM should see this as about as good as realistically possible. Not a slam dunk sign like Story IMO.

Hopefully we can get through first 10 rounds without too many more.

I was going to say this

But if we've learned anything it's that MLB hates LSU so they'll prob sign him for like $20 million

Agreed, but wasn't Eierman one of those guys that we thought was MLB bound no matter what? Or does he seem to have legitimate interest in college ball?

He seemed to be pretty much MLB, but just wasnt as highly regarded as Story, therefore we had a lil more hope for Eierman. Hopefully he has a price tag and the Rays cant meet it because of the draft picks ahead of him. Landing just one of Story, Eierman, and Cave is a victory for LSU.

Rays have so many picks because of all the free agents they lost
They will probably sign most of them because spending $10 million in draft is better than spending $50 million each on 2 players they lost to free agency
this is how the smaller markets have to do business in the MLB landscape
