I think having something in the right outfield for the students would be AWESOME. Maybe the Athletic Dept should have a poll...telling the students that the right outfield is for them, and what would they rather, a berm or bleachers.
Let them get involved and decide. There are student sections at Tiger Stadium and the PMAC....there should be a student section at the Box...that right outfield full of students would make life miserable for opponents....I'm all for it.

make the berm the party area cut it off from the stadium and allow coolers

as a student, i made as many games as i could even though i work mostly nights. I also went to the regional and super regional. so, don't act like every student doesn't appreciate baseball or the chance to make a game. the atmosphere a berm could create would the perfect thing to get other students involved in baseball. i know that i would really enjoy it.

Rag, why are you always so damn negative and critical? I really think no matter what the student turnout would be you'd still be bitching. You're not even giving the students a chance.
I find there to be a decent amount of students at baseball games. It's just tough to notice their presence because many do not have reserved seats so they're standing somewhere around the stadium. Also, because there isn't a student section, students just sit wherever they can scattered around the park. I guarantee LSU attracts just as many or more students relative to other SEC teams.

Problem this year was that the first few weekend series games were very crowded by regular patrons so students were given SRO tickets. A lot of them saw this as a slap in the face. I heard on more than on occasion of students picking up their tickets and deciding not to go in because they got SRO.
SRO tickets weren't too bad. Usually there were plenty of open seats closer to the action than the far corner of RF.

I don't know how much it would cost to build a berm; truckloads of dirt and grass can't be much. If it's not used the cost would probably still be minimal compared to some of the other cost associated with Tiger athletics and I'm sure they would find a way to get bucks out of berm seating anyway.
So what's the big deal. Build a berm!

we need something out in right. berm/bleachers or the intimidator. something we can use as a measuring stick for homers.

I say put bleachers to match left field then raise the green wall in centerfield and then place the intimidator on top of the green wall then put the flags up above that. That will make the stadium look a lot more symmetric. The problem with the berm is that when it rains there would be a huge mess and all you would see is a big tall mud puddle. That way the students could have a section depending on the average of the students that attend the games. Any seats left over would go to the standing room ticket holders. Everyone wins including the stadium.

I think we already have an intimidator in center field

what .. build an entire berm for the 17 students that regularly show up for baseball games
Set it aside for students, let them in 30 minutes before. then if there is room left let regular fans in for 5 bucks. That way it gets filled or close every weekend. If the students fill it, then non-students are just screwed. but otherwise open it for anyone.
