It's Quite amusing that you speak so uninformed just because a radio station or a group of Cajuns say you are a so called flag ship you need the truth it will set you free. Please call the University of louisiana System and ask them to give you the truth. It will bust your arrogant bubble.

Listen, if you think this is a grassroots movement that will gain national traction, by all means keep up the good fight.
I personally think UL Lafayette has less of a chance to convince the state's, much less the nation's, mind on what their name is without a legal acceptance of said change, than Bobby Jindal has of becoming President. And FWIW, he's currently polling at 0%.

You ULL fans that even think ULL is in the same conversation with LSU, as the state school, are showing your ignorance. LSU is the only school in the state with national recognition and is unquestionably the flagship. It has the medical schools, the law school, the dental school and by far the largest and most diverse student population. LA tech has more cross state and national appeal than ULL. ULL is in no way and has no claim to the university of Louisiana. UL is in northern Kentucky. Most people outside of LA don't even know who ULL is. They lost their identity when they ditched USL.
ULL is no more significant than any of the other directional 4 year schools across the state. Equal to Nicholls, Mcneese, ULM, etc.
The tell tale sign of coverage and relevance is to see where the students come from. Over 90% of the students at ULL are from Acadiana. It is simply a regional commuter school.
I hope you have fun in Baton Rouge and appreciate that the state school will be representing LA in Omaha. Pick up a P&G t shirt while you're there and wear it next week to support your state school.

Why should we when we are the flagship school of the state of Louisiana? Plus, there is simply no need, because of our long history of academic and athletic accomplishments people nationwide recognize LSU. I would know cause I have worn the clothes in almost every state and I almost always get a reaction (Typically "Geaux Tigers"or "are the Tigers gonna be any good next year" or even "LSU sucks" )but not once have I had someone have to stop and ask me "what's an LSU?"
Now what do you think would happen if your wearing your favorite ULL team shirt that simply says "Louisiana" or "university of Louisiana" and your walking on Santa Monica pier in L.A. Do you honestly believe anybody (other than somebody who actually was from Lafayette or went to school at ULL) would have a damn clue what that school was about,could name what league you played in, much less have a 10 minute conversation about the chances the Cajuns could win the League versus another school in the Sunbelt?If your being honest with yourself that's a big No and the main reason this whole thing looks so silly.

Our school is pretty much 2-3x the size of every school that you just mentioned, and it's considered a national university.

You could take the time to learn the history behind the names, or you could make statements like that. It's like when Cajun fans make fun of LSU's colors but have absolutely no idea that they are based on the biggest tradition that Cajun country adheres to
