So you clearly don’t understand what it means to be paralyzed in a crash and have an insurance company offer you $10k so you can pay your mortgage when you ended up needing $10,000 to even build the ramp to get into your house now that you’re paralyzed; yeah, you’re right, screw these guys with law degrees that are actually experts in converting justice into peace

Found the personal injury attorney.

That was a skit from SNL back in the late 80’s/early 90’s. shite that was funny. Sad, but funny.

In what way(s) do they hurt our state?

The cost to do business and even to own a vehicle here. Friend recently moved this contracting business out of state. General liability insurance if in Louisiana sky fricking high, like double.

Bc the victim’s injuries being covered by insurance is essentially the victim paying for their own injuries. An insured has obtained their insurance through some diminution of their patrimony, and so without the collateral source rule the tortfeasor gets off scot free while the victim essentially covers their own injuries.

It also chips away at the deterrence aspect of tort law, which is just as much of a bedrock to the idea of tort as is compensation.

Most jurisdictions have some form of the collateral source rule. That’s not something unique to Louisiana

Couldn't find the notification for the "Official Injury Lawyers. . ." but

"The Official Wealth Management Partner of LSU Athletics" is a paid sponsorship of Louisiana State University and is not intended to imply that the university or any university personnel are clients of Burns Estate Planning or Burns Wealth Advisors. (Disclaimer from their website)

This guy sounds like a red neck, started out in Hammond as one office of a couple insurance salesmen so I guess paying for the title of "The Official. . ." worked for them. Now have several offices, or maybe just meeting spots, and expanded past insurance.

Coming soon, The Official . . .
