That's not true. Plenty of people who haven't called for his termination or hope for his failure have acknowledged concerns about the future and the questions marks going into this season.

quote:

In your "results only" world, you leave no room for real evaluation ... only 51-15.

That's not true. But, unlike some on here, results do matter to me. I'm not going to be against his regime regardless of the amount of success he has. If that is a problem for you, I can't help you.

quote:

Miles drives his Ferrari into Tiger Stadium and barely beats Dooley and his Malibu. His Ferrari should run circles around that Malibu, but instead Miles bangs if off the wall a few times, swerves down the straight away, fumbles with the keys trying to get the car restarted and barely eeks out a win.

That's pretty gay for an analysis.

quote:

Does that make Miles a great coach? I don't think so.

Saban could do the same and you'd have no problem.

There will always be people who have a problem with the guy who follows a legend.

quote:

It HAS to be about more than just the results. You have to put into the proper context

And considering all of my posts regarding Miles, the past, present, and future of the program since the end of the season shows that.

quote:

The fact of the matter is, the deeper we get into the Miles regime, the worse this teams looks. We are a disorganized mess, we lack discipline and attention to detail. As our talent level normalizes and Les no longer fields physically dominant teams, we look more and more ordinary

If there is no improvement in the future, I'm sure I'll support a regime change. Not at this moment though. Besides, I know what drives most of the disdain for him on here and it makes those posters not credible.

So from '08 the team looks worse? Did somebody hang 50+ on us? Did we lose a game by 2TDs, 3TDs how about 4 Touchdowns?
You're saying we didn't improve?

First off, I'm not happy using '08 as our baseline. Just to say we are better than we were in '08 doesn't hold water. Who was responsible for the results in '08?

Secondly, the record improved from '08, sure, but the product on the field didn't. We had one good win last year. Auburn at home -- that's it.

I'm not going to wait for the ship to hit rock bottom, before I start looking for a lifeboat. You guys can rearrange the deck chairs on the Titanic, not me.

Biggest issues in 2008:

1) defense
2) turnovers
3) penalties

While the o-line certainly took a step back in 2009, I'd say the major flaws from 2008 were rectified in 2009. We were a better football team in 2009 than we were in 2008, simple as that.

And I don't care what Georgia's final record ended up being, anytime you go on the road to Fla/Ga/Tenn/Bama/Aub and get a win, that's a good win. Arkansas was also a gutcheck good win. Also, Alabama was a "good loss." We played a hulluva game at Alabama in 2009. Most of the criticism for 2009 comes from the Ole Miss debacle which is fair and the perceived "lack of dominance" in our wins, which IMO is partially fair and partially not. To an extent, I agree with the lack of dominance, but until those W's turn to L's I'll shy away from the sky is falling mentality.

At the end of the day, wins is all that matters. I've seen too many national title teams have four or five close games throughout the year (Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Bama) to concern myself with "prettiness" of wins.

Agreed. Conference road wins are tough regardless of opponent or venue.

Unfortunately, we created some new ones in the process. We went from having a pitiful defense to a competent defense. I wouldn't call the defense fixed, just yet. While Les was "fixing" the defense, he was ruining the offense. His supposed specialty is OLine. How's that looking lately?

My barometer is graduated differently. Better record and not getting blown off the field counts lots of little marks.
We're not where we want to be, but getting there hopefully. We need a successful running game in the worst way. I think the QB play will come around if history is any indication (Jr, Sr).

I totally agree. And we will all get to see if there is improvement in those areas in 2010. If there is, we go from being a 9-3 team to a 10-2/11-1 team and everyone will be happy.

If there is not improvement, we go from being a 9-3 team to an 8-4/7-5 team because of the tougher schedule relative to 2009, we will at that point likely all be in agreement that changes at the top are necessary, and we shall move on.

Most will have you believe the book is already written ... that we are in a downward spiral and destined for 8-4/7-5 in 2010. That may very well end up being the case, but for now, it is not. We will all get to see soon enough.

Not true. There will always be a handful of fans who don't like Miles as our coach regardless of results. And they won't be happy until he's gone. In fact, going 11-1 would probably just irritate them even more.

Therein lies the problem for the coming year. We could be an improved football team and still end up with a worse record. As I see it, we have a much tougher schedule this year. I can't wait to see the "results only" crowd try to spin their little heads around this concept.

Most of the posters on TD think our improvement is a foregone conclusion. The fact of the matter is, we are replacing a lot of players on both sides of the ball.

The point I don't get in all this is what good it does to have all of the bashing now? It is May. Are we going to change coaches in June because some fans are unhappy? Les Miles is the coach in 2010. Deal with it. He isn't going anywhere so all of the bitching and moaning in April is for what, bragging rights next year so the anti Miles crowd can say "See I told you so" if we go 8-5.

I wonder what fans were saying in April of 58. Dietzel was 11-17-2. I bet no one saw then that we were about to embark on one of the three best periods of LSU football. Wonder what would have happened over the next decade and a half if the trigger happy guys had prevailed then.

I think we will be better next year. In fact, I am expecting it. If we are not, then let the bashing begin. But now?

I was at every game last year. The only game I did not feel like we would win during the 4th quarter was Florida. I also had that feeling at the '88 Auburn game, but I was wrong. So to say that '09 was not an improvement over '08 is nuts. It may not have been the improvement we wanted, but there is no doubt it was better.

I guess the point is, sit back, relax and enjoy the hell out of the upcoming season. Lets talk about how stupid or great Miles is in December, when it may actually mean something.
