Most of the press coverage focuses on half, or less than the whole equation: Who deserves to paly LSU (if it beats Ga.)?
What does LSU deserve?
Just one person''s opinion, but:
1. LSU deserves to play for Nat'l Championship, for a "clean" title, clear of claims of a "split";
2. LSU playing a team it has already beat does nothing to further this interest, but, rather opens it to doubt (See CBS 'secret " poll). Besides, why must it beat the same team TWICE to win a championship?
Sure, arguments can be made for Ala.
Same can be said for others.
An all-SEC title game compounds the problems with a no -playoff/ BCS structure.

Go look at the Blind CBS Poll. The most important thing though is.. Have you lost to LSU already?
Bama: Yes
OSU: No
Bama: Yes
OSU: No

Wow! Have we learned nothing from years past, particularly from 2003 and 2007?
Do not count out OSU. There are fewer things that must happen for OSU this year than there were for LSU in 2007. If they beat OU by double digits, and after watching OU's defense and OSU's offense, that isn't a stretch, then OSU will jump to #2 in the computers. If Clemson beats VT, which they've already done once, then I think that clears the way for OSU to make up the ground needed in the human polls. OSU will have all of the following in their favor over Alabama:
1.) Higher in the computers
2.) Strong victory against a top 10 opponent on the final weekend of play, which will be fresh in the voter's minds (helps gain votes over Stanford and Bama, who are done)
3.) Conference champs of (according to the rankings) the strongest conference
4.) Anti-rematch sentiment
5.) Anti-SEC sentiment outside of the South and, particularly, in Big 12 country
6.) The argument will be made that OSU lost their only game under extenuating circumstances since they played Iowa State the day after the plane crash that killed the basketball coach.
If OSU loses to OU, it's a moot point. If VT wins, the vote is split. But if OSU and Clemson both win, and I wouldn't bet against either, we'll see how much of a "lock" Bama is for a rematch.

You've lost a lot right here since they already are.

No, they aren't. Alabama has a slight lead in the computers right now, .950 to OSU's .930 (see BCS link on page 1).

I retract my last statement. I was unaware they fell from 2 this week.

Mostly bcause they've played one less game than Alabama. I had to retract one of my points, though, because I had listed "better record", which wasn't right because the Big 12 doesn't have a championship game this year, so the records would be even. Sucks for OSU, because having that extra game would be huge.

Watch the game this weekend and notice how the speed of LSU is enhanced by the playing surface in the Georgia Dome. Whoever we play, it will be in the State of Louisiana on a very similar surface which has been so good to us in the past.

Pulling for Clemson to upset Va Tech and the Cowboys to pound the now hapless Sooners.....a 3 score difference may be enough to pull Okie State through to #2

I personally believe the do have a shot. The week before Okie St had all but one computer vote. Bama gained while Okie was idle this week. Okie St. will regain those with an OU win holding a #5 ranking in the computer polls.

I agree that it seems he would make a very fine voter.

He's talking about today, and is just saying that to fire his team up for conference championship game. After OSU thumps OU, he will be talking about how his team should be #2 - book it.

The size of the win doesn't matter to computers. MOV was removed from all computer polls.
