Do we need stout, heavy O-linemen (350lbs on up) or lower weight speedy atheletic lineman(gym junkies).
Serious question, what style of play determine the type of O-lineman needed?

There is always exceptions to anything but really you need all of the above . Big , fast , strong and smart .

It varies by position, but the idea you should prioritize fatness is wrong.
I perfect example at OT is Jonah Williams. He's a smart athlete first.
Center is a smart technician with quickness and good body control.
Trey Turner and La'el Collins were fine OGs.
ETA: it's imperative they have a good head on their shoulders to ensure assignments are not broken and that they can recognize defensive shifts.

Personally, I prefer to convert defensive linemen. I want a mean streak and some quickness in linemen.
Of course I'm a fan of running backs converting to receiver also (Josh Reed, Devery Henderson).
Whatever we've been doing hasn't been working with the o line.

La'el Collins. Fast as hell, strong as an ox, smart, and COMPETITIVE-refuses to be beat and refuses to quit.

Great post. All of Bama's olinemen averaged 300-310. We need leaner, stronger, and espically more athletic linemen. I'm sick of seeing these good players not being developed physically and athletically in that order. When developed physically, they become more athletic by default. I would DEMAND this from the great s and c coach Moffitt or kick his arse out the door. This has been a problem for years. I can't understand why this isn't front page news. To use a Ga. slang, DO IT ANYWAY.

We need to add deer antler spray to our workouts-it's obvious weight training alone isn't getting it done
