With LSU finishing 14th and with yet another dismal offseason to look forward to, I thought this may put things into perspective. Now I know Vegas knows more than the idiots who vote in the polls, but interesting to see where we fall.

@BFeldmanCBS: 2014 BCS Odds: Bama 3-1; Oregon 8-1; LSU 10-1; OSU 10-1; A&M 14-1, UF 15-1, FSU 15-1; ND, Lville, Clem 20-1, per @RJinVegas

Better odds than both UF and aTm. Same ad OSU.

I hated last offseason. Being ranked preseason 1, 2, or 3 was too horrible for my little tiger heart to bear.

So we are entering a "rebuilding" year....so be if...WE WILL rebuild.

Not saying it WILL happen, but maybe after the season we look back and say "LSU was expected to be 2-3 years away and look at what they accomplished"....who knows?

Remember OU and USC were both preseason #1 ranked teams prior to this season.... Neither won their league or even division for USC and both lost their bowl badly.

LSU has work to do....but our cupboard is not bare. Our schedule is VERY tough and the odds are stacked in Alabama's favor.... But I can't say ANY game on our schedule is a sure fire LOSS at this point. It will play out one way or another.... Overacheive and play for an SEC championship, meet expectations and compete for the SECW, or underacheive and lose 4+. Even that is not total failure given that we'll play TCU, UGA, aTm, UF, Bama, that will all be ranked...and most of the SEC teams in that mix will likely be ranked ahead of us.

Reality check. It's TOUGH to compete in the SEC.

We were ranked between #1 and #3 in most preseason polls, we ended up #14 after stumbling through the Chicken Bowl. How do you define overrated?

You have to put the top SEC teams in there as high probabilities if Bama doesn't make it. The one thing having Bama win guarantees is a one loss SEC team will still make the championship game. The most likely teams are LSU and atm... We are still loaded with talent and were 50 seconds away from being in it this year.

...and Les makes it tougher by squeaking by three teams who weren't even bowl-eligible who got blown out by other conference members.

Alabama squeaked by LSU and Georgia and lost to atm. Its football. The new englad patriots have bad games, yet they are still a good team. LSU has 4 really tough games next year in bama atm georgia and Florida... Its not unreasonable to think we can win 3 of those. Over the past two years we have found a way to beat the teams when we were big favorites in conference. The team should get credit for that.

I would be fine with your assessment if it were the exception rather than the norm. It's the norm for LSU to barely beat weaker opponents. La Tech? McNeese? Troy? Vandy? Tulane?

may I suggest fishing; making love to your wife/significant other; training your dog to retrieve; taking in some live music?

TAMU loses 5 seniors on defense and will prob lose at least one junior to NFL. They lose 3 out of their top 4 WR's. They lose their center and both tackles may go to draft as well. So how is their whole team returning???

Alabama squeaks by good teams. BLOWS OUT bad teams.

We squeak by bad teams, and lose to good teams.

1 is not like the other.

All based on schedule.

Obviously, SEC is odds on favorite.

Bama has us at home, we have Florida and A&M at home.
