He's checked out

His body language on the sideline was very telling to me. He just looked down and out the entire 2nd half even when we got within 1 score he just went sit down and looked bored. No energy at all like he dgaf. Most QB's in a close game are standing up on the sideline cheering on their defense and genuinely engaged in the game. Last Saturday Nuss looked like he couldn't care less.

. I actually think Nuss can see the zone and read it. The problem is when they drop 8 those windows become very tight and Nuss no longer has the arm strength to fit the ball into those tight windows

I actually agree with this. He’s made his living throwing short and intermediate passes into tight windows because of that zip. It definitely looks like he’s doubting what used to be his go-to throws to move the offense. And with the deep ball a total mess right now, that’s bad.

I'm not going to even bother asking you why you say he "can't" throw deep.

When he was missing on deep balls early to mid-season last year they were all- ding, ding, ding- OVERTHROWS

Do you see any overthrows on ANYTHING right now? Nope. Not even on check downs. Whether it’s a rib, core, whatever- he’s got no power on any throw at the moment. Whatever the cause is doesn’t really matter, but it looks pretty obvious based on his past ability that he has some physical limitation currently.

The zip on his passes is key to how he threw for 4,000 yards last season. He no longer has the thing he has relied on. If he can’t drive the ball, then he doesn’t need to be playing, because he isn’t playing effectively without that capability.

I don’t give a frick. He has zero velocity on his throws. He’s slower than he was last year. He’s never liked contact but he’s actively avoiding it this year.

He’s injured. Yes, that means Kelly is lying about it, but he’s clearly not right.

It’s to a point that it’s costing them wins, so a change has to be considered.

For anyone who listened to the radio show this past week, Kelly said he & offensive staff debated several weeks back whether or not to sit Nuss & give him time to heal. The decision was ultimately agreed upon to play him. Nuss probably provided input as well & wanted to play.

With that said, sometimes coaches have to protect a player from himself especially when trying to play through injury as the injury is affecting his performance & the overall performance of the team in a negative fashion. They owe it to the player himself & the rest of the team to what's right for the overall good of the team.

I’ve been one of BKs biggest supporters on this board.Having said that he better get his head out of his arse in regards to Sloan, Davis and Nuss. All three are huge dissapointments and will cost him any support he has left.As a LSU fan for 60 years I have seen how the fans have put so much pressure on the AD and BOS it forces action to be taken. The negativity will eventually be BKs downfall.

These are absolutely all true. For those of us who follow the team close enough & followed camp, the red flags go back to camp. The injury occurred there which is why Nuss wasn't allowed the throw for practices towards the last few weeks of camp when the media was on hand. The lack of velocity would have been obvious & reporters would have started asking questions. The injury would have been harder to hide.

It's also why Kelly has been so defensive about the offense & Nuss. I understand having your player's back as he battles through playing with an injury but at the same time, Kelly needs to do what's right for the whole team & program. Garrett's limitations from this injury has handcuffed the offense. He can't push the ball deep & it's affecting his timing & accuracy on the shorter stuff. Now it's getting where teams are noticing & just dropping 7 or 8 defenders in obvious passing situations. Not being able to run the ball is only making matters worse.

The offense is a dumpster fire with no solutions available and it was brought to us by our $100m head coach who we can’t fire.

I think Sloan isn't very good either. We ran a actual RB twice in the first half Harlem got one and KJ got one on a 3rd and 20.

We've had more success with toss plays than inside zone so why haven't we seen more of what works?

This is not a hate nuss post. But seriously he can’t throw the ball over 20 yards.

Which really sucks considering we can't run the ball worth a shite either.

but me at 50 years old could throw a free crow hop throw further than LSU’s starting qb………..period.

Highly doubt this. Every 50 year old here believes this, but couldn't. Only those ages 18 to 38 that are over 6' and under 210 lbs that have experience throwing balls could accomplish this.

There could be more at play here, as well. We are recruiting his brother. That absolutely shouldn’t play a role in what happens on the field this season, but Underwood almost certainly affected how Sloan was handled. The possibility can’t be discounted based on what we’ve seen.

Nuss’ brother isn’t in the same kind of conversation as Underwood, but we’ve also come up short with multiple QBs since Underwood in last year’s class and then initially in this class. That makes nailing down any Top 10-20 QB for this class and next more critical right now, and he’s been a logical target for a while if they are aiming to get two in that class.

I’m not saying this is THE reason Nuss is still on the field, but we can’t discount it playing some role in the staff’s decision process.
