Numbers Speak - Les Miles is a Mediocre Coach

I went wikipedia and looked at Miles' coaching record. What I found is what I always thought was the situation. When Saban left, the LSU administration decided to replace Saban, who bolted for the NFL, with a coach who wouldn't, because he wouldn't have that option. LSU's administration wanted a "College Coach" how would never be anything more and would be there forever.
Looking at the Win/Loss record of Les Miles , one comes to the conclusion that he is nothing more than an average, middle of the pack coach.
I created a Line Graph for his Head Coaching record and you tell me what you see.

Good Job... This pretty much explain the deal. He is an average coach who fits a middle tier BIG-12 or BIG-10 school.
This CLOWN has to leave and take everybody on this staff with him

What the graph shows me is that he took a losing program, and in his 2nd season made it a winning program (more wins thans losses) and took a very good program (LSU) and made it a mediocre program. But what this also shows is that his recruits, no matter how highly ranked are not doing well in HIS system.

I wanted to add that as well, that if he couldn't win more than 9 games in the Big 12 and he never finished better than 3rd, how can you expect him to win, year-in and year-out, in the SEC. He just got lucky being hired behind Saban, otherwise, he would have never had a chance to win more than 10 games.

You post a graph that shows a demise of the OSU program when he left, and an increase in wins for LSU to prove your point?
OSU showed negative impact and LSU a positive one with the common denominator of Miles.
Not really arguing with you, but your graph actually disproves your point.

Isn't that the definition of Mediocre. It is apparent that he lacks that ability to problem solve during the game, that would allow for his team to win, no matter the circumstances.

So when a team loses, it is the coaches lack of problem solving ability?
Doesnt this rule out every coach that has lost say like 35% of their games from even being considered "good"

The point is that he is a mediocre coach. I didn't say that he doesn't have a positive impact, but winning NC's is probably not in his power. The graph shows a peaking point, at both schools. The point coincided with his arrival, but soon declined or leveled off. I think the graph shows that his programs will win 7 to 8 games a year (middle of the pack), not NC's.

yea, right. i can see the search committee now..........
"lets draw up the characteristics and experience of the coach we're looking for"
-win's football games........rejected
-all other quality coach attributes.........rejected
-someone that won't leave......yea, that's the ticket. i hear that dahulk promises not to leave.
-yea, but we oughta go with les miles cause not only did he promise not to leave, he has actual coaching experience.

Winning games fills seat. Winning Championships cost money. But the numbers don't lie. Some people may have perceived Miles' record at OK St as that of an "up and coming coach." However, winning 4, 8, 9, & 7 games in 4 seasons, is an average of 7.

What has Okie St. ever won? Recruiting in-state players against Oklahoma is no easy task and that's before Texas kicks in.

However, he's in Louisiana now and that isn't the issue - that excuse doesn't apply. Miles won 11, 11, and 12 games, his first three season here, then 8 and 9, his last two. What's different?
When I looked at the graph for the first time, I saw that Les Miles will complete a circle of futility, if he wins 7 of less game next year.
