re: Number 7 in 2017.

A freshman. No one already on the roster with a number will switch to 7 because it's NOT a tradition. Maybe Cam Akers, or Brennan, or Narcisse--not because they're destined for greatness, but because they'll (hopefully all) be incoming freshman and #7 was just vacated and will be available. That's all.

A few of us geezers were talking after Fellowship the other night and thought it would be great if the tradition of 7 stayed on the offensive side and JD Moore did the honors.
My pastor was saying it was about time we let somebody doing real work be recognized like the rest of the team.

For the players there certainly is...maybe not officially for LSU, but the players see it as smthg special

Has there ever been any evidence of that? Not trying to be a jerk--You could very well be right, but do we know that for sure or is that just another thing we like to assume because it feels cool?

Is there? I looked up guys that have worn #7. It's not always some big name guy, hell after Highsmith I think a walk on wore it.

Peterson asked TM to wear it. TM asked LF to wear it. that seems like a tradition to me.
I like that a team has numerical archetypes. It ties together a program that doesnt see guys but for 2-3 years.
I mean we have 18, 7, and to a much smaller extent, IMO, the start of one in 49 (i.e. long, fast, edge rusher type).

PP7 handed it down. Highsmith was before PP7. Again, its not official with LSU like 18, but if multiple players are wanting 7, then it obviously has significance amongst them...

Well, do you think its a coincidence that the 3 best players in the past like 7 years at LSU have all worn the same number, each one acknowledging the recipient of the number...???

Again, has this ever been proved? TM was 2 years removed from LSU by the time LF got there--seems unlikely. I'll gladly shut up if someone can post a link with a quote from players about it, instead of just hearsay/wishful thinking.

LF should ask JDM to wear it. Wouldn't have set any records without him leading the way.

Moore already wears 44.
